Yes, it was Ata's workshop I was referring to .

Its exactly in that location. I believe that he is a reliable guy for RD 350 Restoring. I have a complete engine done up by him couple of years back. Except a bench test, I am yet to use that engine though.

Just one word - Beautiful

If at all anything, only one sore point as far as I am concerned. The HORN. Tell your friend to get rid of it. Put a original sized horn in the original position under petrol tank.

Other than that all full marks for your friends efforts.

Best Regards & Ride Safe

That's a fantastic rebuild good to see such examples still thrive in Namma Bengaluru

Please do convey my best wishes for the owner

@ Ram Sir,

If you are visiting Bangalore, the local RD Club has its monthly meeting every first Sunday in Hotel Airlines. Do give it a visit chief, also let me know if you are making it.
Will make every possible effort to attend it.

Re: Yamaha RD 350

Feels too good to see people enjoying the RD. All those who are not residing in Delhi are Really Lucky as here in Delhi it's become impossible for a person to take out the RD as the Rds are now more than 15 years old and the National Green Tribunal has banned the vehicles above 15 years old to ply on Delhi Roads. Just don't know what to do with my bikes.

Although it won't help your situation at the moment, perhaps if enough owners of old automobiles and motorcycles can join forces and convince others, the law could be modified to create a license and registration that would allow "antiques" to be ridden on the roads?

With the internet forums and sites like facebook a surprising number of people can be contacted to put pressure on the lawmakers these days.

Every State in the US has special exceptions for Antique vehicles to allow them on the roadways without meeting the many laws that apply to new vehicles.

Why would the States have these exceptions?
The various owners associations put pressure on them by not only joining forces and recruiting non-antique owners (who enjoy seeing vehicles from their past motor by) and most importantly, dangling a carrot in front of the lawmakers noses.

What carrot? One that no lawmaker can refuse. Money.

Although some States just modify their laws to remove dumb restrictions like "no vehicle over XX years old may use the streets." (obviously written to support auto/motorcycle companies and the many dealers that sell vehicles), many charge a slight fee to get the Antique Vehicle registration.

For those who love their old vehicles and wish to ride/drive them on the highways most consider it to be a small price to pay.

Of course the only other option is to try to sell it to someone living in a less restrictive place.

Please do think of me and I shall treasure them for the rest of my life

On the contrary, I would agree with what Arizonajim has mentioned.
But are you sure that the ban includes even personal vehicles? My assumption was it was limited only to Commercial Perimeter...No?

Re: Yamaha RD 350

Thanks ku69rd; pramodkumar; ArizonaJim for your comments. I have posted on the forum and am also active on facebook's Heritage Motoring Club Page and the members of the club include big lawyers who themselves own a lot of vintages and classics. Just that the fitness of my RD is due next year and am not taking out my RD as I have heard some vehicles have been impounded because of this and my RD is too precious to me. but it's frustrating that you can not ride it freely with the fear of it getting impounded.
