Spotted-vw-touareg - Bangalore and Mumbai

I Saw this beast on the way back from Kotilingeshwara to Bangalore. This was a huge V10 TDI. I looked up the specs and it is a 5litre beast generating around 310bhp. Sweet mother of god. You should have seen its pull. We were travelling at around 90-100 kmph and there was a booming honk behind us, We no sooner than moved a little to the left and this monster blasted past us like we were just standing still. Thats the power in this beast. It was really wide, at almost 90% the width of our tempo traveller. One of the best looking SUVs that I have ever seen if not 'the' best looking. The dash was a real treat with those great dials and that amazing wood finish.

Pics also avialable here.

To some extent I prefer the Toureg to the Cayenne (especially when the Later does not have the Turbo moniker). But then chooosing a VW over Porsche , how many people will do that!!

I am not too found of the touareg but out here with the spare tire its looking good, even though i prefer the cayenne to this any day, i think it is still overall a nice option to the cayenne..

I think porsche did a phenominal job at creating a new money making segment and open the eyes to people, that they can do anything they want and SUV can be fun and entertaining..

I cant wait for their 4 dr coupe/sedan as well...

@1day perhaps you are just right.

Just in case Porsche Cayenne did not happen! Who would even give a look to the Toureg. Just Because Cayenne was a Porsche, the capabilities of this platform was so far exploited marketed and publicised. VW would not have got any of that on their own had they just gone out with Toureg.

However the moment we have Toureg (now that the Cayenne is already a known commodity) and we know its been jointly developed between VW and Porsche (for the Cayenne) makes this the poor mans cayenne with all the Cayenne capabilities at a VW price.

But then, some Porsche fans want to see the 911-turbo front end down there and not up in the sky kissing the rear view mirror.

Hence Toureg for me (But then I wouldn't have known Toureg had Cayenne not been there)
