Motoring website, Motorbeam has managed to take pictures of the GT TDI variant of the facelifted Volkswagen Polo, while it was doing its test runs on the Pune - Satara highway.
The facelifted Polo GT TDI is powered by a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, diesel motor, which produces 104 bhp, instead of the 1.6-litre motor of the current car. There are rumours that it will be coupled to a DSG automatic gearbox. The same engine is expected to be used in the standard Polo TDI in place of the 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder unit, which is being used at present. The power output, however, will be 15 bhp lower than the GT TDI. The engine has been developed specifically for India and will be manufactured at Volkswagen's Chakan facility, as a result of which, the company can keep its costs relatively low.
As we have seen before from the pictures released by the company, the Polo gets a new set of smoked headlights, a redesigned grille, front bumper and fog lamps. At the rear bumper has been redesigned as well, with a new number plate housing and reflectors.
There is no information available regarding the launch of the Polo GT TDI at the moment.
