2010 Mumbai OTR Season - Plans & discussions

Guys - just learnt from HVK that weekends have high traffic on the highways heading out of Mumbai (especially in the Night). This is why we had a bit of a hard time last night.

Now I wish I had participated in the Alibaug night OTR as well...I am now a HUGE fan of night events...everything is just better!

So what is the plan for next week?

I am new to offroading, I just bought my first Endy 4x4, after 10 years of owning an Ikon and a Fiesta... I loved to burn rubber, but wanted to get off road! Always loved the cross country rallies, didnt care for F1 much... and my life's ambition is to do one of those really down and dirty trips. Still a "newbie", but I would love to join one of your trips. I guess I have some way to go before I can dare try some of the stuff I have seen on this thread - still figuring out which footpaths and road dividers my Endy is good at climbing

Went up a small flattish hill near Mulshi the other day, and up into a small clearing off the road to Sinhagad. Any other places nearby Pune where I can lose my inhibitions?

Wait for a month or so till the monsoons. You can join everyone at Rajmachi and other places. Thats when the OTR scene is going crazy. You will lose more than your inhibitions!!

Thanks guys, I am looking forward to joining the gang. I am still very conscious of every speck of dust on my Endy's shining exterior, but I know why I bought her! And I am sure she's dying for it too!

Make sure you know where the tow hooks are on your Endy..!! It helps if you know your ride when you are stuck!!

What color is your Endy..? Post an OTR you will see many more shades on it and a speck of dust is an understatement - read MUDBATH!!

Look through the 4x4 excursions sections for the 2009 season threads, you will understand what I mean! But its fun and the guys are great...

Until then.. I think they are doing some recces every weekend, I think one is coming up on the coming weekend..!! Look for the thread and post there and get in touch with the guys... Have fun!!

Yep Pdev.. I know ive been missing almost every OTR session.. due to my unfortunate erratic travel schedule. But I will make it for every session in the July monsoon session for sure. Will get the Safari beefed up and ready for some REAL bashing before that.

Devang, Dont scare SID... His Endy is spanking new!!

How about a plan towards Daman? anyone knows a good place that side?

Whatever you guys plan, Please give an advance notice of a week (better 2). I am very keen on coming down to mumbai with my jeep/safari for at least 1-2 weekends.

Choice of Safari/Jeep will depend on seeing what happens to Jay's Safari/Sid's Endy

Well my Safari has seen a lot of OTR on stock highway tires(sand,slush, deep slush, rocks, boulders, hills, ruts, pits, ditches, climbs, slippery grass, etc) and has come out unscathed so far. Ive got AT tires this time so hopefully, I shall have more fun.

Kunal - if you can find a ice shop someplace in the village we stopped for eggs, will be great!
