I had been to this place on Sunday, with a friend of mine. It is roughly 30 minutes drive from the express highway from the Khalapur exit. Once there it takes another 20 minutes to climb this place. There is Bauxite mining in this area and many deep trenches await you Roads are slippery and once at the top miles and miles of rough ,rocky terrain awaits you. There is no end to what one can do and its better to plan the track or else even a day wont be sufficient. Its like a banquet for off-roaders. Newbies can try many simple obstacles and the experienced and the more daring could try out very steep descents/Climbs/ruts which are very slippery because of the gravel. Not many inhabitants ,so mostly the place was left to us There were a few river crossings but we couldnt make it due to shortage of time. As there was no one to watch over me I unabashedly indulged myself in all sorts of childish pranks with my Gurkha. I dared to take a particular very deep "V" shaped rut. I took the wrong gear ,put myself in a very precarious situation ,the vehicle tilting so much as to rest on the side step. I had a numbing of all my senses for some time as my feet and body slid down to the opposite window,my hands tightly gripped to the steering.I managed to regain control and then took the vehicle out. Here the diff. locks helped me. My vehicle did suffer some damages at the end,a bent sidestep, punctured tyres a few dents. There is a lovely "Shiva" temple .Its a good resting place. The area is so vast that it will be necessary to visit at least twice. It would be such great pleasure to be with our TBHP group and I am sure we would all like this place. This would be a wonderful place in the rainy season. Few pictures and a video of the terrain. Unfortunately I couldnt have the video of my Gurkha in action ,my video recorder banged on the floor after the nasty roll. So lets plan soon. I can even arrange lunch for all ,as there is a couple near the temple, who makes very good chicken and bhakri."Veggies keliye kuch aur soch sakte hai" . |

| ![]() hi guys, There is another place which you can try for a OTR. It is basically a hill climb tricky especially during the monsoon. It is called as Tungareshwar and located on the way to Vajreshwari. There is atemple on top of the hill and 2 ways to go.You can go on the highway after Dahisar and at KT hill resort take the right to Vajreshwari . Just before ghateghar there is adirt track on the right which goes up the hill.I had been halfway up the hill about 4 to 5 years back during monsoon, could not go further because of a landslide. Before going better to inquire with locals as this was about 5 years ago and i do not know the present condition of the track . cheers |
