Bopanna,

No other Indian, FRP, HT manufacturer has attempted to get the open-able roof panel in the market yet? No wonder !

When this one hits retail, you will be paying for the best in the business.
Regards,

Fazal, you have already made a case for premium. :D When do the bookings begin.

Bopanna,

Everything in this HT is in place, except for water leakages from the top opening panels. This will be shortly resolved as Prabhu is working on it.

Just a refresher, it is not as easy as it sounds making it"leak free".
Had this been a Plain Jane HT without any roof openings, it would be fitted (going by the serious inquiries only) on more than a 100 Thar's, by now.

Prabhu and the rest of the design team unanimously wanted a HT with a difference, something that would be practical, one of its kind in India, then came the open able roof panel design, followed by the first prototype, then second and so on.

When this HT was at the Bangalore OTR, it was summer, the top was tested for almost everything but the water tightness.

While I wait for the HT to become available, one question for you please -- how easy is it to store the hard top when we decide to take it off to feel the wind? Chances are I may have to live with a soft top until I can find out storage issues.

There is hope after all!
Awesome work fazal bhai!

@sutripta : that was the first thing that came to my mind too!

No matter what you do before clamping, ultimately it is the forces generated by the clamps which is finally acting. Work out the vectors.

Easier solution is a bellcrank arrangement. However, too many sharp bits in the passenger compartment then. (Even now, there are too many for my liking)

If quantities are sufficient, one can always tool up and make proper clamps.

I was just wondering if there is a way to provide optional 'transparent' removable sunroofs, a complete hard top as 4X4 addict suggested?

If there is a foldable/rollable water proof layer on top of the roof would that solve the leaky roof issue? (could even be another fiberglass plugin part, which could be stored inside the cab, can be used in case one suspects there might be rain?)

And those clips scare me. I guess it was a test rig sort of a thing anyway!

Rooted to this thread! :thumbs up

Dear Friends,

The redesigned top without the few (earlier mentioned) snags is nearly done. Very soon I will be posting pics of the prototype before it is ready for production.

If you liked the earlier top then you will love this! As I said earlier this HT competes with itself, hence the 'improvisation delay'.
Regards,

Fazal saab,

This is just fabulous! Design is very nice and suits the Jeep well. I guess it could be put on the older 5X0s as well? If yes, it might just expand the customer base immensely.

Also, are the side glasses fixed or are they the Qualis/Scorpio 3rd row types, which can be opened a little, for better circulation?

Awaiting the latest pics.

To Fazal sir and Jeep gurus,I have a few queries on the Hard top.
i) Is it possible to mount a overhead carriage once the hard top is fitted to the vehicle?
ii) The clamps used to keep the sunroof type openings in place appear to be sharp(from the pics). Will it pose a hazard?
iii) Is it possible to open and close these openings while the vehicle is in motion? ( I know its dangerous, but it just gives a kick to stick your face out and get a real wind in your face experience)
iv) I am planning to fit a real bumper will a triangle shaped spare tyre carrier(By Vijay sir). Will this significantly impact the hardtop structure and rearward visibility in any way. I understand i need to open the tyre carrier, then the tailgate and then the hard top to gain access to the the cabin.

PS: I was just approved for membership in Tbhp. Yippee!!

Dry Ice,

As Thar and 550 share the same dimensions, it should fit, but not a 540.
The side glass is fixed.

Dhanush,

They seem to share the same dimensions, but it is not so. There is a definite difference with slight variations. Which means that this HT will not fit glove fit the 540, .
Regards,

Fazal Sir/Prabhu,
A few questions from my side:
* Are there color options available or is it only available in Black?
* Would it be possible for you guys to provide mounting points/screw-holes for roof-rails (atleast on required basis on an additional cost)?
Cheers and looking forward to the end product.
Deepak

Any updates Fazal/Prabhu?please:

Eagerly awaiting the commercial launch of the Hyderabad Hard Top!!:thumbs up

And what about Thar DI? Are there difference in sizes of CRDe & DI as well?

I can understand delay in launch. But meanwhile do treat us with progress hapenings!

zalaps

The body dimensions of Thar CRDE and DI are same.

The front panels are done and the rear is near completion, as soon as the first top is fitted I will post pics here. It is worth the wait, trust me...Prabhu is doing a great job and persistently getting work done on the improved design
Regards,
