Hey Yogesh. I dont think that BF's have stopped being imported in India as the tyres that I purchased the mrf week & year are as follows
  • 3509 Aug09,
  • 2409 Jun09,
  • 2709 Jul09,
  • 2809 Jul09
The tire which is the oldest is June and the latest on is August and that too the last week of August 09.

So I think that your guy in Jaipur might not be having the correct size and might have given you the wrong info!!!

This information was given to me on this forum.. I got May 09 tyres and my dealer said that import hasn't stopped. Anyways, it is good if the supply keep coming.

Did you try some offroad after new shoes, what is your feedback?

No off-road as yet buddy!
I think that Ill try the first off-road in DS'10 itself. Iam using the CJ3B for Off-roading only and as I was ignoring the vehicle the whole of last year I cant get enough of it!!!

A SWB rocks!!! No doubt about it!!!

Anybody got an idea how much BFGoodrich ATs cost, either 235/75/r15 or 235/70/R16s ???

I have BFGoodrich ATs 215/75/r15 , COST 4200 each.

Bigman has 235/70/r16's on his mm550! I think he bought them for 5.5k a piece from somewhere in Pb. I vaguely remember the same costing 5.8k a piece in Delhi about a year back when I was on the hunt for tires for my MM550!!!

So currently they should be in the same range, give or take a couple of 100 bucks!!!

I bought BFG in 235/70/R16 for Rs 5700/- each a month back and their MRP was 5800/-.

I Own A Mm550 2wd With 16in Rims And I Am Planning To Go In For Wider Tyres Without Reducing The Wheel Size. Can I Fit The Ford Endeavour Wheels On My Jeep? If Not What Would You Advise?

what is pcd of gupsy?
is it possible to get following alloys ?

my gypsy

if not similar pattern is also acceptable.

The PCD of Gypsy (not gupsy) is 139.7mm, same as Jeeps.

Vishwas I think you may have mounted the tyres incorrectly. The tyre should be mounted reverse on the rim so the open side of the V hits the soil first instead of the apex. Just a thought. I think if you reversed them the car will get more traction.

I could be totally wrong about this !! Going by how they mount these tyres on tractors you seem to have done it right.

The way you have mounted it the tyre groove seems to be parting the soil. If its reverse it will gather the soil. I wonder what kind of effect it would have if the tyre gathers soil. Grips better? Not sure

Interesting !!

Guys,

I have booked a new super white gypsy king, delivery on 7th! (5 days to go)
I am really confused in selecting a tyre on it. To give you brief. I am fitting alloys with silver chrome finish on them 15 x 7 - attached picture
Now i am looking at giving it a clean, premium look. Will be doing around 20-30 % offroading rest will be plain city and highway driving.

I have given myself 2 options
1. BFG AT
2. MICHELIN LATITUDE CROSS

Since i have a white gypsy, i think BFG with white lettering will look good. Problem areas with BFG according to me (as per what i heard) are that the ride quality is not as good as the MICHELIN LATITUDE and since my rims are chrome finished as shown i am worried that they wont match with white lettering. The good part about MICHELIN LATITUDE is that they are good in extreme off roading and will be helpful in my Leh trip.

Now michelin tyre will make less noise on road and ride quality MAY be better, but will the plain black lettering look good on my white gypsy and will they be good on occasional off roading and especially Leh trip ???

Guys please advise as i need to make this decision really fast!

Thanks

Go for the BFG AT. They are very good tyres. Friends who own gypsy in the hills prefer it.

I wouldnt worry too much about the cosmetics.
