As per as i know, you can change the present hubs for the Mahindra 'Marshal' ones. And that is not very expensive. For a wider axle, there are options for a Bolero 4x4 part or Open knuckle (OKBJ) type of part which comes in the pick ups. And either of these are surely expensive. You can use 16" wheels of PCD 160 once you change the hubs OR you can use a 16" wheel of PCD 139.7 in the present condition (i.e. without changing hubs). The size of the rim (15 or 16 inch) isn't dependent on the type of axles (stock or wider) you use.

are the width of the bolero 4x4 and the pickups one and the same, or they vary. is it possible to get the bolero 4x4 axles in scrapyard? what might be the changes involved to fit them? mine is a 2wd, peugot engine with 4spd gearbox.

I guess it is better if you start a thread in the 4x4 Technical section on queries related to your vehicle as this is the rims/tyres thread. Or just post in the thread i 've mentioned. That will be more appropriate.:)

Ok guys this is not an urgent thing, but yes i am interested in looking at an upgrade for the NDMS (if any) for the CJ3B. Thing is i don't have a spare tyre now, so if the suggestion is towards something apart from stock rims, i would like to purchase the set of 5 rims and get one ready with a tyre for now and then change all the remaining tyres as soon as head office approves budget.

Vehicle: M&M CJ3B (ex military)
Tranny: Stock military spec
Priority: Offroad performance (mud, sand, rock etc) 70-80% over on road performance, coz i cruise only at 50-60 kmph :p
Current set up: Stock rims and NDMS

As i mentioned i don't mind changing the disc's to Gypsy or other Iron rims. Not planning to go the alloy way and not a big fan of oversized stuff on a CJ. Don't want to get into too much modifications on the vehicle for just the tyres.

My heart is slightly tilted towards Gypsy disc with Geolanders or Maxis. Only concern being a compromise on clearance at diff.

So start shooting out options please :)

7.00X16 NDMS (Super King) that is 30" Tall.

Steering will still be light

or 235-75-15 Maxxis Trepador on FC Van 15" Wheel Disc. (Gypsy Rim looks too modern) 29-30" Tall.

Steering will become heavier, but manageable.

6.00X16 MRF Big-Rover 28" Tall

Thanks Arka, i was also having Trepador in mind and i somehow am a big fan of Gypsy discs, right from my school days. Any idea how much these tyres cost? And is there a slightly slimmer alternative say 215 width and will it work?

My Maxxis Trepadors 235/75/15 cost me Rs.5250/- each in Bombay. Should be cheaper in Bangalore.

Assuming that this question was for me ;)

I recently picked up a Jonga and am not 100% sure of the current NDMS's on it.. they looked pretty worn out.

I"ll be using the Jonga only for OTR's and it'll spend most of its time offroad.. I am not too keen on getting a set of NDMS's and eventually change them to some offroad tires (I'm not a big fan of NDMS's and I'm look for a much beefier set of tires).

Once I've taken possession of the vehicle, I'll start a thread on the same (In about a week).

I am not sure what the stock tyre set for the Jonga is. Some of the Jonga owners around here will know, or maybe you should look at the worn out ones and put down the number here.

If its a 6.00x16, then you can safely go upto 7.50x16 inchers from the Maxxis range (Trepador) for your Jonga. This will cost you upwards of 7.5k per tyre.
