NO, Gypsy wheel is neither zero nor negative offset, it is a positive offset wheel. I am successfully using Yoko Geo A/Ts 235/70R15 on 15X7J -13 offset wheels. For some measurements and calculations visit post nos 554 and 560 on pages 37 and 38 respectively. |

Thanks. Looking at the snap and description in post 554 I have a suspicion that he measured backspace not offset. Now I wonder if he got the inside/outside wrong in post 560 as well ...? When measuring backspace the inner side needs to be placed upside, and it looks that that's what was done. Can the folks double check that? --Ragul |

Yes he did measure backspace and frontspace in post 554 and calculated offset in post 560. I bought my wheels based on these measurements only. Now that the stock wheels have 100MM backspace and stock tyre size is 205/70R15, and you will be using 215/75R15 with CFLs which are wider than stock leafs, so reduce the backspacing about 15mm on account of broad CFLs and another 10-15mm on account of tyres with bigger diameter. Now you need wheels that have backspace of 75mm or lower. Hope this helps. |

The tyre will remain the same 215/75/R15. I just want wider rims. The recommended rim (on Yoko site) for 215/75s are 5.5J to 8J. Edt: Whats your clearance from inner wheel to leaf at full right steering lock currently? --Ragul |

After reading on this thread and elsewhere on the net, it looked like Gypsy rims, with its 139.7 mm PCD 5 bolt pattern was the correct match for the mm540, albeit with a Negative offset(thereby pushing the tyres away from the leaf springs). Since I was looking for a low-cost alternative, the Gypsy rims were the most appealing. Hence I bought a set of 5 rims at Rs 1190/- each. I got the rims yesterday, and i ran some quick measurements to try and gauge the offset. Here are some pics: Measuring the PCD plate from the inner part of the rim: Attachment 143361 From the above, it seems to me,from a pure common-sense perspective, that the Offset seems to be Positive, which means that the tyres will be pushed towards the inside of the vehicle, i.e towards the leaf springs. Comments please. Thanks, hope this helps. |
