Why Nikhil? IIRC, he has already got this installed in his Jeep. However, I agree 8.5J is not the correct size.

Spike

Yes Nikhil, I have already fit 215 on 8.5J. Also, Siva trammaway here is running his 235's on 8.5J.

I admit the steering is harder and the ride is more bumpy. Spike had also mentioned there are chances for the tyre to jump out of rim if tyre pressure is lowered during off roading. But for that I have another set of tyres, which I will use.

lol spike, IMO 5.5j is correct size for 215 section tyre so 8.5j rim/alloy is just tooo wide.
thats why i used the word "impossible".

235 section tyre will fit better on 8.5j rim than 215 section tyre.
even 235 section tyre is not recommended on 8.5j rims/alloy.

the reason for bouncy ride is higher air pressure used to fit 215/235 section tyre on wider rim.:Frustrati

i have seen this here on cj 340. (shorted 650)
235/75/15 tubeless tyre on wider rim.

I was looking for some Yokohama Geolandar MT tyres and spoke to Yokohama India on the phone and was told that they had stopped import of the MT and imported the AT in sizes that were not to my needs.

Are there any tyre importers you guys can refer me to who might be able to supply Maxxis, Yokohama, Interco, Goodyear, or Hankook mud terrain tyres in somewhat extreme sizes (33x12.50-15 or 35x 12.50-15)?

Alternatively, are there any businesses that can import a specific tyre model and size that I might want?

Thank you

thanks very much! I will contact him.

in the mean time, any others people want to mention are also welcome

I talked to Mr. Kandhari. he said he can only supply the double coin brand. I don't know what that is but not what I want. was worth the try though. Thank you

check out following link.
Double Coin Products

whats the current price of GT Savero MT Tyres?

any dealers in PUNE & MUMBAI who stock them?

are the FORCEUM MT tyres available in PUNE & MUMBAI ?

Well, I know its a tyre brand because I had gone through the Zafco website based on the email address that was given and it listed double coin as one of the tyre brands. I just didn't investigate it further because its not one of well regarded brands of mud terrain tire manufacturers. I presumed it was a chinese manufacturer of some sort.

As expected, the website you linked to does show any mud terrain tyres. looks like they make commercial application tyres.

I talked to Hankook's representative in India and was told that they can get any hankook tire I want with a minimum of 20 tyres per size.

Try Pavan Anand at onyxwheels@live.in
He's put up an ad in the classifieds section also. Has Maxxis Bighorns last when we talked.

@Mods - Putting someone else's email id on the thread as its already available on the classifieds section.

Try the TBHP Classifieds.
Browse through the Accessories > 4x4 and Accessories > Wheels/tyres sections.

Even if you don't find the exact tyre you want, you may find a dealer contact who has some 4x4 tyres.

I remember Varaman posting about how he imported wheels (and tyres?) for his SL500 through some website. Either PM him or search for his post.

What is the tallest good off road tyre you can get in India? I need instant ground clearance. Is there anything around 33"?

I believe you can get even more than 33". Have seen 35" Nitto Grapplers on a mod'ed Red Endy on this forum. But given the engine outputs we have with our Jeeps, etc there should be a serious drop in torque with these bigger tyres.

Cheers,
Adi
