@gs: Gypsy is looking really nice with these alloys, though just 18 k for a set of five seems to be on real lower side.

OT: Is that a EVO in the 2nd picture?

Market price is 22K. This guy cuts out the middle-men so he is able to give a better deal. You don't have too much choice though...so I was lucky to get what I wanted.

Not an Evo - that is an Outlander.

For a sec I thought this was Michelin tyres, man what a rip off :uncontrol

@headers - Top speed has dropped to about 100 given the current gear ratios. Handling is definitely less precise than before with a lot of understeer thanks to the differential locks. The tires/wheels have not affected handling on their own and steering effort has actually reduced. Now I need to get myself the crawler ratios to complete the package.

does that translate as

1) lesser grip on sealed surface ? ( because of the knoby pattern of tread ) ( compare to using the knoby motocross tyre on road )

2) tyre little over inflated for road use ?

1. Yes - braking requires at least 20% more distance than with AT-S tires
2. Tires are at 25psi for road use - well within recommended specs.

Err..for the complete package, one needs to accumulate offroad mileage sir..:D

Top speed will reduce by 12% with the crawlers..also you should be able to do more than 100kph..I do :Shockked:..

The vague steering at high speeds is because of the revised suspension setup..not the differential locks IMO.


One can use 30 psi for on road use - use dry nitrogen

Vikram - thanks for the tip re. the Nitrogen but I think this will be difficult for me as I have to drop/raise pressure very often.

Since a bunch of my 'friends' have been trying to get me off NDMS and into the trepador world, they lost no time in pointing out this nice demonstration of the contact patch area... :)

This is also a inter-state cooperative effort with the Tires coming to me from Delhi thanks to Bhpian Rahul Roy (not sure of his handle on Tbhp), Performance upgrades done in Mumbai by Allan, Diff-locks brought down from the US by another bhpian and a lot of ideas and inputs from Arka, Headers from Chennai and of course Khan Sultan from Bangalore.

Tbhp is beyond any lines you can find on a map save perhaps the Equator :)
