Hi Harjeev,
The free wheeling hubs are same for 550, 540, 340, RHD CJ3B and even LHD CJ3B.
But i would not recommend you to go for a used FWH as the tendency for breakage is more.

I got the free wheeeling hubs installed today on the Gypsy. I wonder why I took so long to get them done. The drive for sure is a lot better in 2WD on road with these FWH's and goodbye to the 'hum hum' of front drive train in 2WD.

A very very simple DIY but got it done at Suraksha. Here are the pictures

93438 70011 - Arun no longer sits in office and does the sale/in house work.

93430 - 90616 - Prasanna Sits inside the office. I got mine @ 2700Rs NET (On 1-sep-2009) without bill. FYI...

I have LAMDA freeweeling hubs on my MM540 4x4 for over 6 years now. They do improve the feel of the steering, fuel efficiency as well as reduce drivetrain vibrations.4x4 addict is right about the sticking. they have to be engaged every once in a while to keep them from sticking up. I want to replace mine cos they tend to spill greasee once in a while on to the mag wheels. I have seen some on a rundown Gypsy in a local scrap yard. was wondering if they will fit on my MM540. Any suggestions?

Hello friends,
this is an interesting discussion on the good and bad points of our own desi Lamda FWH or as some call it as LH.
This is a long discussion with close to a hundred posts in the last five to six months.
What I have noticed is that no one has questioned the single line instruction given in a sticker by the manufacturer as in the post no. 27, about engaging the locks atleast for a kilometer, once every month?
How about focusing on this very vital bottomline.

have you found and read the instructions on that paper supplied by Lamda Components?
Please hurry up and post it here before hundreds of Jeeps using the FWH or LH get into serious trouble with broken bearings.

An update about these LAMDA FWH's.

In my Gypsy and atleast 3-4 other jeeps, who had put these FWH's in the recent past, have had the bolts of these hubs coming off. Infact in one or two cases the hubs have fallen off.

I suggested remedy is to use Allen key type bolts + threadlock.

So, whoever has these, please do a check on the bolts.

Hi! just wondring how many splines does an MM540 have? Im planning to buy Aisin locking hubs here in Manila, too bad we dont have Lambda hubs here, just making sure it fits perfectly as soon as I order one.

Another member on this form bought a WARN 10-Spline unit. However, Mahindra always made some changes to the export version so I suggest that you open up the front hubs and check. all you need to do is to pop out the outer cap and remove those six nuts.

Last week I had the hub locks greased as part of OTR prep. Today I was testing the 4x4 system before the drive tomorrow. To my surprise, I heard loud clicking sound and the front axle didn't engage. I practically hurtled down the slope with barely any engine braking. I failed to climb some simple mounds since the front axle refused to engage. After that I disengaged and engaged the hub locks again. Then it started working fine. I climbed and descended many inclines and slopes, before I was satisfied.

What could have happened? May be they didn't fit it right after greasing?
