Yes, Given that its a 15-minute job and the hubs cost < 4K from Bangalore with shipping. Call up Mr. Arun and get them shipped. Just saved you 1500 bucks so drop me a cheque for atleast 750/-

It is. I got mine for under 4 K as AVR said, installed it, my MM550 can cruise more freely now, less noise. Only irritation is, when you need the 4WD on, you need to twiddle the knobs to lock it into place. After the exercise, it's an effort to unlock it, at least on mine.

Others who have it, is it hard to lock and unlock hubs?

No, I've had mine on my MG413W for > 3 years and have had no issues to unlock. The only issue faced was the hub bolts becoming loose after a competetive OTR bash

I would assume that to be because of negligence on my part.

BTW, the Transmission windup is what causes difficulty in unlocking the FWH FYI

I checked with Popular JC Road 2 days ago, Bangalore, quoted the same price as Rs 5500. I have a source in Kerala, not in cochin, PM me if you need, I can try to arrange. Price not sure, but definitely not 5.5k, much less.

Ramky, this has happened on my MM540 also. Mine was 1 year old when it started giving such a problem as I do 4l a lot on mud terrains . Later found out through mechanic that this is to do with the springs inside. Normally when i get stuck , I try to engage the 4l and move the vehicle a bit and then disengage completely. After this the unlock happens quickly.
Anyways I bought a new set before the Bangalore OTR from the factory itself and the guys were very courteous and asked me to return back the old ones to rebuild/service the same.

re: Lambda Free Wheeling Front Hubs for Jeeps

A guy with a scorpio got them for 3600. I am wondering, whether the same hub will fit on the safari. Once warranty is over, I do not want to spend on the Tata hubs(10000+)
Any contact details, website etc.,?

re: Lambda Free Wheeling Front Hubs for Jeeps

Yesterday i opened my Classic's FWH to service and to my horror it was filled with slush and mixture of muck and grease...dismantled it completely and cleaned with petrol.
My question is, i have applied SKF heavy duty grease ( its neither thick nor thin), but somewhere i have read that you should not use thick grease. Is there any perticular rating of grease which i should use?
BTW its 30-40 mins job to open FWH, service and again put them back. Although bit tricky but not difficult.

re: Lambda Free Wheeling Front Hubs for Jeeps

4300 eh?

I got 1 yesterday morning for 3000Rs without bill - if anyone needs it from bangalore please ask someone to send it thru direct courier, wont cost more than 500Rs... 4300 (with bill I suppose) is steep!

PS - no need to grease anything inside the FWH, at max a pinch of grease is enough - this is per the makers... grease inside FWH is un-necessary... but bcoz of lack of any packing kit/oil seals - Clean it after EVERY OTR (Dry or Wet!!)

30 mins for a non-mechanic is GOOD time - especially considering the pain in the where cir-clip!!
