ps. i too want to share some latest developments at my jeep end

hi ,
i will try to answer ur questions, but i am no guru, i have been learning with my 3b all along.

for ur engine , if its already got a hurricane my sincere advice to u dont mess with changing it, i have mine now running well after a lot many glitches and after about 3 km running its a dream to drive, nothing is as smooth and responsive as this. it always brings a grin .......so dont swap ur engine if u have a hurricane or get one if u dont , they are available and cheap, and also cheap to repair, only the fe would vary betwen 7and 10. depending on many factors and ur intended use .

lsd wud be a good idea if u are into big time off roading . else skip it.

lockers????

power steering u dont need at all with a 3b , u can drive it thick traffic with ur little finger if ur steering coloumn is fine and ur diffs are appropriate

if anything else comes up, share it.

HI Doc -

Too many things done - Changing of diif crown , diesel pump , diesel filter assembly , diesel tank , diesel tube , brake tubes ( new ones ) as the old ones not bale to handle the power after change of pump and diff ration.

Also changing the airfilter . Engine will not be changed .

Free wheel hubs is next as i need milage and speed on long distance travel.

:OTMy vehicle does a good wheel spin and AIMING for wheeling very soon.

reason for change of diff crown?
i too am planning to change diff ratios in my stock jeep as i desire a higher top speed .

which diesel engine do u have?
what fe are u getting?

free wheeling hubs have made a difference in my jeep, its a good add on

I would like to know the option of installinig a MM550 LSD in the CJ3B rear diff.

Will any modification's need to be done for that or is it bolt on?
DO I need to change the rear axles?
Experts please advise

hi harjeev ,
why do u wish to change the rear diff.?
when did u buy the gypsy?? planning to make jeep house??lol

Reason for crown - More power for OTR - for mud drives

Lower crown ration will bring down the speed but increase the power .

Peugeot engine - 10 to 12 KMPL

Sure agree: i'll be doing it before Bangalore OTR

finally attaching some pyctures of my jeep.

well today i have finally uploaded some pictures,

some more new fresh questions:

can an aircon be fitted in a 3b with a isuzu engine?
where would the condensor go? and how to make a soft top aircon friendly with all its wide openings in a 3b.

is there a beeding that goes under the hood and between the side aprons of the bay? as my hood vibrates a lot at these edges , while there is a beeding of cotton tape at the front end none on the sides.

how can i make my wipers effective?

i deviced a ammo box to be fitted between the two front seats and its a boon to carry small things.
the next things on are to fix an aircon(after a engine swap to isuzu from my current hurricane) and to change my ndms tyres. and then to make my softtop into a two seater version.

please adress my queries, gurus?????

Why do you want to replace the hurricane?if you need an ac,drive a car mate,i think you should let the 3b the way it is,what gearbox are planning on to plonk inside with the isuzu engine?

hi mandeep,
i use my jeep on a daily basis and so the need for an ac also to take it out of town , i would need one.
the car is an alternate i am planning to dispose off , so thats how.

You actually do not need a spray paint machine to paint your jeep.. A normal vacum cleaner with a sprayer would suffice. The outcome and quality is great and seamless.

OOps thats a news. So have you finalized the idea of an engine swap? I thought you would stick to Hurricane for a 'true jeep feeling'...:D
You can go through GTO's thread for more info on making the AC effective in a soft top. His probably is the only example of such an effective aircon in a soft top jeep! And i guess an AC can be fitted with Isuzu...thats one of the many advantages (for a rookie like me the Isuzu has various other advantages). Though how to make it happen in a SWB open top jeep is probably a matter of skill.

Good addition. For an open jeep this type of accessories provide the much needed safe storage space. Mandeep is planning something similar to go in our jeep in near future.

hi soumen ,
for sure i will miss the true jeep feel, the thought itself putts me off, but then practicality is taking its toll on me too.
had a tough time sourcing some spares of late .
saw ur jeep at clasic when u had sent it after ur trip.
