Dont want to kill the stock look yet! Do you think the steel mesh used in industrial airconditioning filters would work?
I think i understood now, after Arka's post. The wool you are referring to is inside the filter element i guess. And not outside.
the mesh that u refer to is available in delhi.
recently my air filter was changed to this oil bath type ( i hope my terminology is correct) , as arka mentioned, engine oil was used, and the wool and the mesh are there.
arka, did the early jeeps have the paper type filter, and the later ones these oil bath type?
for my spark plug wires i have plastic number clips attached at both ends, at the distributor end and the plug end, which is very helpful when i attempt any diy stuff. strongly recommend this.

Good one Arka sir. Now for nitwits like me - Can you please elaborate on the differences between single action and double action type? Advantages of one over the other (if any) etc?

Hi Shubz Sir,
The Double Action Pump had a built in Vacuum Booster to operate the Wipers.
UBS & DB Sir, can elaborate more.

Arka

The current dysfunctional pump is Double action pump then. as it does have a provision for piping to operate vacuum Wipers.
So coming back last night in the first of the rains, I realised that my anemic driver side wiper (powered by a small no name motor) which clears all of a 4 inch arc at its maximum and 1 inch arch at its minimum is going to be extremely painful going forward...
Any ideas/suggestions for configurations/brands that I can use?
The passenger side one is hand operated so I am not really bothered about it :)
Here is a pic for reference...

Yup eagerly looking forward to replies for the wiper suggestion. Will an auto wiper motor work, if it can be adapted for the CJ3B blades?
Auto wipers surely would work if "originality" is not the question. While my engine was rebuilt Gopal asked me if he should get an auto wiper assembly for my Jeep and he himself refused it saying "No, it won't be original" :)
How about buying it directly from a Bajaj or TVS dealership where these are sold?

Hi Soumya,
I know of two brands Tyco & Cyco :D
Just ask around for the old JEEP wipers.

I have been driving my 3B for over 2 years now, there are many limitations and issues which if sorted out can go a long way into making the 3b more practical. So i thought we could start listing out the limitations (no praises pl) and then discuss each one such that we have some options for upgrading and making the jeep more practical.
I hope i have been able to convey my point. The reason for this discussion is that i wish to get the 3b into a more usable form.
The limitations in my perspective, the solutions ( in my opinion) i shall mention in the next post.
- Top comfortable cruising speed of 70kmph
- Braking distance
- Absence of doors
- Over heating on consistent driving
- Mechanical fuel pump
- FE
- Ride quality
- Carb issues
I have thought to make my 3b as reliable and sorted out such that i take it to the raid de himalaya in october this year.
Regards
Sharat
The 3b went to the garage for:
1. electic fan to be fitted in front of the radiator, working out how best to do it.
2, new hood
3. redo of the anti rust coating
Any ideas/pictures / suggestions on the effectiveness of the electric fan in front the radiator, similiar to what we used to see in the maruti 800 when the ac was an after market addition.
