Re: New 4X4 project

This is one project I've been following from even before I became a member. It's extremely humbling for me to see the patience, dedication and effort you've put into this project, and the end result looks mouth-watering. Tell you what- you should bring this vehicle to Delhi/NCR and just drive around. Just the high from seeing every single vehicle clearing way for you would be amazing

Re: New 4X4 project

I am in the process of setting up the steering linkage, front and rear prop shafts and the radiator connections.
Will keep you guys posted with pics.
The roll cage will be fabricated soon as I get my truck in a driveable condition.

Using and adapting an Indica Top hose with an additional water outlet for turbo cooling.
The steering link has been completed by connecting a Safari star joint and shaft to the Pajero collapsible steering.

Re: New 4X4 project

Project is at crawling speeds! Needs alot of time and effort, great going.

Don't you think that the wheel well clearance is way to little, which suspension set-up will you be using, ofcourse you will have to lift up the vehicle.

Actually after the new rear springs and the front torsion bar lift, the clearances are more than enough.
However my upper arm is now sitting on the limit stoppers. I am planning on cutting the stopper rest bracket and lowering it by 1 inch. Any advice or opinions against are most welcome. I will post pics of the upper arm resting on the limit bush if anyone is interested.

John,

Please post pics. I want to know how/why the limit stoppers are in contact with the upper arm. You really tempt me to cannibalize my old 4wd Safari and make something mad like what you do

Cheers,
Adi

I will post pics in the noon. The upper arm needs more space for downward movement and hence my thought of lowering the limit bush bracket.

Re: New 4X4 project

A few pics of the intercooler and intake hose.
I am also planning a hitch for my montero. The pics show the original tow hooks and pipe which I have strengthened with a 1" MS rod. Now to fit the tow hitch and ball.

Re: New 4X4 project

Just as we were getting ready for starting the engine, a small issue cropped up. When we filled the cooling system with water, one of the damned dummy plugs on the block sprung a leak. We had to remove the injection pump to get at it. Replacing all four plugs just to be safe.

Fixed the dummys and started the engine. Extremely satisfying and the roar sounds very impressive.
I think this engine will give me all the power I need.

Beboy

Those (rear) wheel arches dont seem to suit the vehicle as it looks now - perhaps you have more exterior work planned that will make them belong more.
