The Bolero 4WD Lx prices do show, at least for Kolkata.

That answers it. Pune falls in Tier 1 and BS3 cannot be registered in Pune metro area as a personal vehicle. Perhaps M&M decided nobody will buy it as a transport vehicle in 4x4 guise & don't sell it here.

Maybe possible, though I was under the impression Pune was Tier II. However, it cannot be registered in Kolkata either. Am sure JKDS will also have register it outside the Kolkata RTO. The other 2 Boleros I mentioned are registered outside Kolkata.

I must say that I'm really thankful for all the kind words! But I believe that the Bolero does deserve it!! Closing 450 KMs after receiving the car, I can say that going back to a sedan is going to be painful. Somehow, the Bolero and me, by God's Grace, have bonded real well. I feel much more at ease driving it than I've ever felt.

Yes ramzsys, it's the new digital cluster. The DI engine idles at about 800, and the RPM and speedo are all digital. Looks really cool, and easy to read at night too, without striking the eye, thanks to the auto-dimming feature once the driving lights are switched on.

Thank you, Burn_out! Haven't thought of any other name except fondly calling it Bol"D"ero, as of now. I'll be taking the pics of the ICE installed*today*or earlytomorrow*and put them up, with details.

I'm waiting for the winter vacations to set in for the travels! Here's wishing myself some great good times!! Country roads calling!!

The engine is a Di. The practicality is what made me and family tilt towards the Bolero than the Thar. But if one considers the fun quotient, then the Thar quenches that thirst much more! :-)

About sourcing it, not actually as a Government employee! I had taken a different route. ;-)

Thanks for the best wishes, //M! As stated above, the price list for West Bengal does show the price list for LX models, *although the standard disclaimer applies here too. Specs-wise, *it's similar as the SLE model. LX models with 4x4 do take a while to be processed and made , for which one has to patiently pursue Mahindra. Once it's on the assembly line, not much trouble anymore.

Yes, I have registered the vehicle in Alipore RTO, which registers BS3 vehicles, not Beltola. Beltola registers only BS4.

Infact I was contemplating to by a Bolero only and did few test drives etc., before Thar pulled me away With little modifications to the front end bumpers, fog lamps etc., you can make it much more attractive and sporty. Great vehicle and all the very best.

Thank you, swami69! The Bol"D"ero, I feel, does deserve every bit of the attention he's getting!! :-) I have some mods planned, but they're some time into the future. Nothing immediately, though.
I wish something like the expedition kit for the Thar was available for the Bolero, as I'm not interested to give it to mahindra customization. Prad 4x4 has some nice options, though, as a few Internet searches reveal. I hope some options do show up when I'll be in the market.

I'll send you a PM with that information. In a nutshell, though, it helps immensely if you have e-mail addresses of the higher-ups in Mahindra's Automotive Sector. But even before that, you have to ascertain through your friends there which dealer usually deals more with the Government orders. Then you would have to work your way through. Your dealer in Mysore may be pushing you for the margin on the Thar and the probable hassles on its part to procure a one-off LX 4x4.

Great to see yet another Bolero LX 4wd on the forum and from Kolkata. At less than 8L OTR, this has to be the most sensible & VFM 4wd vehicle. To a good extent effect of 'BlackPearl' i should say . Wonderful narrations also, shows your involvement with the vehicle right from the beginning. Though the BS3 factor must have complicated the things to quite good extent but at the end of the day just with the addition of the A.C. you are good to go anywhere. Even by this time probably the A.C. installation must also has been standardized after the know-hows on BlackPearl's Bolero.
PS: Is your Bolero equipped with factory installed OEM Wiring and Switches for the A.C? Read that somewhere in the forum regarding the newer LX 4wd models.

Thank you, Kandisa! You guessed it right, it's the 'Pearl' effect!! The AC project has not yet been taken on. Probably some time in January-February, 2015. Will get after BlackPearl's peaceful life then. **Heh Heh**

Unfortunately, there are no OEM parts pertaining to the AC which came from the factory in my Bolero.

Thanks, joe_antony! I've had the occasion to test the ride quality on the highway, and although it's nothing like the SX4, yet felt very stable, didn't wobble or jiggle much at the light undulations on the road surface, and could hover easily at 80 - 90 without stress on the engine. Rear seat passengers were quite comfortable and felt safe. In short, a perfect vehicle for the long trips!
