Hi Live to Jive,

I got the tyre retreaded in 2009, using Midas Retreads. It cost Rs1800 per tyre, including the tread and re-treading.

Not aware of the current prices.

Arka

There are plenty of retreading operators, but they mostly do truck tyres. You can find out from nearest highway petrol pump or puncture repair guys.

Thanks for the information. From the picture it appears that the original tyres were Sandgrips. How was the performance with this thread and would you recomend it? Asking this on behalf of a friend who's buying an ex-army MM550 which has Sandgrips but worn out.

Hi Arka,

Where can I get one of these in India, any make/model you would advise, and how much would one run for?

Thanks!

Hi Lugnut,

I'm using a Tough Dog RTC Steering Damper since 2007, cost 135 AUD.

This has been installed and been in use since Feb 2008. I have changed the shock absorber Thrice, the coil springs are doing well.

2008 -2010 -- Original Tough Dog shock absorber + Coil Spring
2010-2012 -- Ambassador Front Shock + Coil Spring
2012-present -- Ambassador Front Shock + Coil Spring

The coil springs have done 70,000Kms approx.

The warranty was for 2 years or 40,000kms.

This design was made by Tough Dog, now there are a lot of manufacturers.

A friend of mine (matchless) is currently working on importing RTC Dampers, will keep you updated.

Regards,

Arka
