here are the final photos of the Thar.....Enjoy and build you own thar because we wont get it here in india, even if we get it...it will be far too expensive and might come in limited numbers like legend did!

must say some people in M&M seriouly needs to learn about matching interior with exterior of a vehicle.

Nice find man...i think Mr.Dhabar is talking about the possible launch of this concept. Now i get the complete picture, M&M will plonk in the 2.5 litre CRDe engine in Thar with power steering and 4wd with off road spec tyres. This is a good set up for about 6.5 lakhs to 7 lakhs on road.

Iam not happy about few things on this concept though-

1. The instrument cluster is that of Armada jeep of yore
2. The dash board must be atleast from bolero
3. please delete those running boards, they look awful, simple tube type step would be better
4. thar concept doesnt seem to have A/C as an option. Air vents not seen

Lets hope this makes it to india

Beggars cant be choosers.

Mahindra should realise that folks will only buy this for the engine. Everything else, well can be put together.

6.5-7.0 OTR i am in line. Anything more i will wait for a Bolero CRDe with 4WD.

The interior could have been much better. I think Mahindra has a stock of the Armada instrument cluster which they want to discard off asap. They could have used the Bolero dash at least. The JEEP looks macho though. With the CRDe Engine, 4x4, free wheeling hubs, I am sure off-roading will be a fun.

Keeping it mind the kind of price M&M put for the limited edition 'Legend', THAR will definitely cost much more even if it is launched India in distant future! And interior does need a thorough change. Thanks a lot Parm for sharing the pictures. Send across more if you have, not only Thar but also other 540's/550's or look alikes.

Mahindra Thar Concept??

I hate to ruffle the feathers here, but the Mahindra Thar is nothing
more than a pimped up MM440/540/550 with a new engine to help you
drive off the cliff at a higher speed.
Why can't Mahindra do some real engineering for improving the Ride-Handling-Dynamics-Visual quartet.
IMO, a fancy paint job, plush carpets , and new engine do not make a concept vehicle.
Seriously, who wants a leather covered dash and red carpeting in a soft top 4X4 intended to be used in sand, mud and slush??

If they just improve on the component quality and raise the quality control
some notches up, their jeeps would be lot more fun and reliable to drive.

Sorry, but this garish drag queen doesn't impress me a bit!!

None of which will feature in any production run, what we may have been (past tense because it isnt going to happen anyway) interested in however, will be the new engine (and hopefully better mechanicals).

they should not have called it a concept at first place. Concept is altogether different to what we as a general public understand!!

But leaving the word 'concept' aside though this is a serious souped up MM550 NGCS version the vehicle as a whole looks good. Iam sure when produced the gawdy interiors will not be considered.

Now another question comes to my mind, Bolero CRde has hybrid chassis for handling additional power, i.e the front suspension is from scorpio. Will the solid leaf sprung suspension be able to handle the speeds the new engine has to offer?

May be when this is offered in india they must put IFS with 4wd to make it ride better. But in pure offroad specs the above combination is lethal!!
