I think these are worked on gypsy rims, usually two discs are fused to make on disc.

I had seen a similar set up on a Jeep in Cochin. A total of 8 gypsy rims and labour to get the wheels done this way.

Reliability and ride would be a serious concern though.

can`t wait to find out what you must have turned this into. There`s obviously gonna be a comparison between your and khan saab`s gypsy. I just hope its a positive and constructive comparison.

Good to know you have gone commercial now. I am planning to pick up a mm550 ex army in a couple of months. Althogh I am from Bangalore, looking at the pace and the quality of your earlier restoration projects when I pickp up my jeep, I am thinking of getting it restored from you!

Amazing Work Allan !!

Hi Allan,

Have really enjoyed both your threads, the SPOA Mahindra and now an all out pimped Gypsy. Going by the speed at which the work goes on in your workshop, I think we at T-Bhp should get in touch with NDTV Good Times to start Indian version of Overhauling. I am sure we all would be able to see a lot more stunning vehicles from our very own Chip Foose(Allan).

Would be following this thread religiously. Keep the pictures coming please.

Allan, I am stunned! Amazing job man. Flawless!!!

Perfect combination of offroading add-ons, shackle lift, reinforced springs, steel wheels, M/T tyres, metal bumpers, side steps, winch, and lights all over.. Only missing item IMO is a roll cage. Otherwise you are fully equipped minus the 1.0L engine.

Hope to see the final pics and Good Luck with your engine hunt.

I have a suggestion why dont you go for the M&M Scorpio petrol engine ( the Renault unit and I guess its called REV116?) but I have no clue about the performance or reliability of that motor.

Experts please comment.

Beautiful! I see that you have opted for new gypsy head lights, beware of those lenses since they burn up if you put heavy wattage bulbs. Keep em stock since you have ample back up

Why not shorten the rear over hangs?

Allan, the gypsy is coming out very nicely. I wish your workshop was in Bangalore so that I could drop by every other day :-). Really fast work there.

More details... how is this done, what is required, cost etc etc..

Say, I have a set of 5 OE Gypsy rims with me. What needs to be done to convert them into what you have there? How much width now? 8J or 8.5J?
