Nooo. This ones super neat. Maintaining it in Spic and span condition. Has AC, Power steering etc etc.

Here's one more from my side:

The old girl got a bit of TLC last week with DIY ceramic coating using a kit from Avalon King. Considering I didn't really spend much time on surface prep it ended up ok for a single coat.

Sorry for the poor pics, the sun refused to come out.

A picture of my King from the August OTR. This was my first time off the road and I got stuck here because I stepped off the A-pedal, just before reaching the top. All in all a great experience.

Are Gypsy's still produced? I saw a convoy of brand new Gypsy's driven by army soldiers and a truck along with plying on the Chennai - Bangalore (Kolar route) the other day. It was an amazing sight.

Made for only Army needs?

Yes, MSIL had to re-establish the assembly line for army's demands last year. Produced only in White and Green shades.

Yes. The Army got special permission from the MoD to procure more gypsies from Maruti. So they will be produced well into 2020. Nothing can beat these vehicles in the hills. The narrow wheel base is the clincher when compared to ANY 4wd vehicle available in India. Ive seen these gypsies manouver easily through Rohtang muck while others had to wait for the BRO to come clear the way. Another reason is that petrol does not freeze as easily as diesel does in Himalayan temperatures. So the gypsy makes more sense up there. I remember the diesel vehicles having to be 'warmed up' with burning logs (the logs would be used to warm up the fuel tank so that the diesel liquifies again!)


Could you share some pics of the AC installation? I am trying to find the best setup for the Gypsy AC.

I was in Sethan over the weekend and saw more than three dozen Gypsys owned by the locals, driven spiritedly over snow.
