Interesting! Where is this and what was the wait period?
BTW, did you consider any color other than white for your new Gypsy? |
This was at Pratham Motors, Bangalore and he got it after waiting for 8 months!!
@cool_dube: I always wanted to buy a white soft top :)
Cheers,
Deepak

I am not surprised, and kudos to his patience levels clap: I had ordered for a blue one, but ran out of patience in 3 months flat and switched my order to a white :D In the hindsight, I am happy with what happened, though!

So how does it feel to own a s/t after having owned a h/t earlier?

To be honest, i bought a hard top previously thinking i would get front facing seats. I never knew that the front facing seats were done away for good by Maruti.
Anyway, the soft top isn't of great quality and creates quite a racket once the speed begins to climb.
Otherwise, its all good. I have driven in some heavy rains and as of now, the soft top isn't leaking.
In fact, on the earlier hard top, i had a water leak from under the dash board on to the driver and passenger foot well.
I was never able to get that fixed. Thankfully, that isn't there in the current one.
Cheers,
Deepak

Original Maruti Gypsy Brochure pics |
Wow, this is one awesome brochure that you have shared with us. Thank you Leoshashi :thumbs up. Kaziranga National Park, Assam only allows Gypsy inside the park (no diesel car allowed), most of the Gypsys there are carb variants with 4 speed GB. During my recent visit I noticed that that 4 speed gear-knob was different from the 4 speed gear-knob that cars like the M800, Omni got. Do note that the gear-knob on the 5 speed Gypsy is the standard 5 speed gear-knob that is shared with cars like M800 (5 speed), Alto, Zen. Upon closer inspection of the brochure, I noticed that the gear-knob on the brochure is same as the one I saw on the 4 speed Gypsy.
Here is a photo of the unique 4 speed gear-knob:

This knob IIRC was shared with SS80 too. Experts, please comment.

As far as I remember, all 4 speed gear knobs from Maruti Suzuki were like this.

Sorry, my bad. I had thought that it was the gear pattern that was discussed and not the actual knob :uncontrol
Saw this parked near Lalbagh during my morning walk.
Drive through the western ghats.
Eye contact with clouds.

Cool! Looks like Gypsy production is far from getting stopped clap:
I wish they had continued the darker version of this color - the Forest Green. Lovely shade that :)
I said bye bye to the White 2002 MPFI Gypsy King 1.3 which I had bought via TBHP Classifieds 2 years ago. Mostly because the UP Reg NOC was becoming a pain and the previous owner, despite hundreds of assurances, wasn’t able to get it for me. So I exchanged it plus some cash for a similar old 2005 KA Reg MPFI Dark Green and Khaki Gypsy King 1.3 (which has an older 1990’s hardtop).
Here are the pics of the older one which is now gone and the new one which is undergoing extensive restoration work...
This Dark Green one is my 4th Gypsy in the last 21 years. Wish me luck with it because after restoration I intend to keep it for a longish period of time!
