The jeep is looking real nice except the Scorpio RVMs which are standing out. Classic type RVMs are still available and I would suggest using that. Else use Bolero type which is used in Major / Commander as well.

BTW when does she break her teeth in an OTR?

Cheers

Thank you thank you.

The RVMs are from TATA ACE ,I searched for the CLASSIC type mirrors in calicut but no luck. Once I got one definitely I will change.

This weekend I am going to Nelliampathi(Palakkad,Kerala) for a small off road trip.

I got the Lamda free wheeling hub. But my mechanic don't know how to fit that. So I have to do it myself. I am not able to get a clear picture of the installation from the Fitting Instructions from Lamda.

in the Instructions 4th point says "INSERT CIRCLIP on axle shaft" Do we have to buy new sirclip for that or it will be there inside the OEM front hub ?? Please help me

What are those align Marks (instruction no 7)? is they are inside the cover assembly ?
dear sreejesh ,I am going through same problem in the installation of the free wheeling hubs.
My mechanic ,didnot know the what FWH are ,and how to install them.
In your third picture ,you are seen locating the allign marks .
Moreover ,the fourth instruction of inserting circlip on axle shaft is troubling me too.
My doubt is where exactly to set the circlip and should i buy a new one or its provided.
Secondly ,do i need to open and detach the cover of FWH from the body and tighten the body first

Dear Praveen,

The Sir clip is on the axle.

I will try to give the steps.. this is what I did, I did it myself .

1. Remove the OEM hubs from the from axles
2. Check whether the Sir clip is there or not.If there remove it from the axle (If not get the same there is no problem if you didn't put the sir clip but it may make sound/or its not the proper way)
3. open the cap of the FWH using proper allen key(only open while the FWH knob in open position)
4. Normally the the alignment mark on the FWH cap will be in correct alignment .
5.fit the FWH on to the axle and put the Sir clip
6.Better use new TVS bolts with spring washers and tight it.
7.fit the Cap on to the Base of the FWH (No need for grease) tight the Allen bolts.

for testing: Jack up the front diff and rotate the wheels at this point the front joint should not rotate.. repeat on both the wheels.

then rotate the knob on the FWH to lock position (If the knob is tight then turn the steering wheel left and right and then keep the wheel straight it will make the knob free) then again rotate the wheel this time the from drive shaft should rotate... don't forget to keep the gearbox neutral. do the same test with 4WD gear engaged for a confirmation .

Hope this helps you.

Re: Mahindra CJ 500D 4WD Rebuild

My friend Rahul and I have a CJ500d Jeep 1988 for weekend fun and OTR in Vellore Tamil Nadu. We love the B275 international engine and the T18 transfer case.
Is it possible to just change the gearbox to a 4/5 speed GB and retain the same engine and transfer case.
Will using M&M's KMT 90/ BA10/ NGT GB be a straight fit?
Will the length of the propeller shafts have to be modified and the hand lever position changed.
Which of these will need a customised adaptor plate?
How much will these used GB's cost in Chennai / B'lore ?
Are used 'Warn Overdrives available in India'? Has anyone used it?

Is Arka (ex670c) there? we need your expert opinion please mail us at remhoby@gmail.com

dear drsamuelk, you can very well retain the original B275 engine and T-18 transfer case with the KMT 90 4 speed gear box .This is the very combination I am using with my 1986 MM CJ500D.Here I take the liberty of much abused saying that B275 is a bullet proof engine .
In that case there would not be any need for any adapter plate as the the KMT 90 4 speed is straight fit to B275 engine.GO ahead with your modification and keep us posted for progress and queries
regards
praveen singh
