Thanks.
Congratulations! Your car is a November 2015 make.
4th digit = L. That means your car is a November make.
5th and 6th digit combined = 15. That means your car is a 2015 make.

P.S - Going for a Volkswagen after the recall?

Congrats! It's November month model. The fourth character 'L' represents the November month. The fifth and sixth character represents the production year and in your case, it's 15 which stands for 2015. The tenth character 'G' represents that it's a 2016 model.

Baleno has only 17 letter VIN.
Check out the Baleno official review. Picture of VIN posted there
I too noted the Baleno VIN stamping in our official review. There are two pictures for VIN in our review and here are those:

Name: Baleno VIN 1.jpg
Views: 8605
Size: 56.7 KB

Name: Baleno VIN 2.jpg
Views: 12864
Size: 56.8 KB

The two characters(20&21) will be stamped following the special character as shown here:

ARTICLE: Find your car's date of manufacture (VIN)-maruti-vin.jpg

I request the Maruti-Suzuki Baleno owners to confirm the location of the full VIN.

Get the VIN again from the SA.

It will start with MA3... It is a 17 or 21 character code.

Thanks for all the Gurus for providing the step by step guide to decode Vin , Got the VIN no for my Red Polo GT TSI - MEXL15600GT052162, I could decode it to Dec 2015 and Model year 2016. is there any more info i can get out by visiting any site . The site http://igorweb.org/vindec/default.aspx provided on the first page throws of error for finding VIN by stating "Unfortunately, the entered VIN cannot be decoded."

Thanks Grand Drive. my mistake of Copy Paste the VIN is MEXM15601GT53485 , i had decoded earlier that Char M stands for Dec , and the rest are as you have correctly mentioned . But probably while formatting it in notepad and copy pasting it here some characters got changed , apologies from my side.

As per the decoding chart on page 1 , the fourth character 'M' represents the December month. The fifth and sixth character - 15 represents the production year . The tenth character 'G' represents the model.
Your VIN number states that it is a December month of year 2015 and G represents it is 2016 Model
