I'm looking to buy a dash camera for our cars (Innova Crysta, Thar, and Bolero pickup truck).

Budget - ₹8,500 per camera.

Main requirements

good day and night time video recording quality
user-friendly app, as my parents will be using it when they travel alone and may need to access the recordings easily.
Front and Rear Camera recording

GPS isn't essential.

I was considering the 70mai A200s, but I’ve read that it has a lithium battery, which could be a fire hazard due to excessive heat. I’ve heard that dash cameras with supercapacitors are a safer option. I also heard DDPAI might be a good option but I'm hearing mixed reviews about it's reliability in India.

With so many choices available, I'm kinda lost tbh. Could you all recommend some reliable dash cameras within my budget? Thanks!

Good morning, everyone! I’m looking to purchase a 70Mi A510 dashcam for my XUV 500 and would love to get your advice and recommendations. Should I also buy a hardware kit along with the dashcam? Additionally, if you know any good technicians in Bangalore who can help with the installation, please let me know. Any reviews or feedback on the 70Mi A510 would be greatly appreciated. Good job. Wish you'd posted the DIY in steps. Is that a small rear cam in front? Or the size is dimunitive?

Thanks. I did not take pictures of the wiring for the DIY process but, I will once I remove it. I am planning to swap over to a hardwire kit that allows for 24/7 parking monitoring. Gives me additional security.

The dashcam is a KAWA Mini 3. The small size makes it discrete and keeps the windscreen largely unoccupied while recording at 1440p. :)

I'm assuming warranty is void once you do this.

Typical hardwire kits have a cut off function wherein they switch off if the car battery voltage drops below a certain value. This prevents battery drain. Best to start the car and run it for a few minutes every week to be on the safe side.

Warranty will not be void provided you are not cutting / stripping any OEM wires. Hardwire kits generally connect directly into the fuse box, so it won't void warranty.

But to answer your question for now, the wiring has been routed through the a pillar and the upholstery to the front and back. It has been a good installation and not a haphazard one. Will share the pics.

The Chinese are back after their National holidays. I checked with Viofo.com customer support chat and they confirmed that HK3-Type C an be used instead of HK4.

As to why i ever had a doubt about the two not being the same? The Voifo.in customer support agent simply did not ship the HK3-Type C hardwiring kit to me once he learnt that i had the A229 Plus. He did not cite any logical reasons why the HK3-Type C cannot be used with HK4.
I kept on pushing him, finally, after seeing a confirmation from the Voifo.com support he will be shipping the HK3-Type C to me.

Those of us looking to buy hardwiring kit for the A229 Pro/Plus models can save some money (Rs.1500 precisely) by buying the HK3-Type C kit. Currently, Voifo.in is running a discount and the HK3-Type C is available @Rs. 999. I think it's a neat deal for a company hard-wiring kit.

When i was looking for hardwiring kits and their usability across manufacturers, i noted that these kits could be used interchangeably as the output across these hardwiring kits was the same.
Where Viofo hardwiring kits shine is the voltage protection auto cut-off settings, these can be set at 12.2 V, 12 V, 11.8V and 11.6V. Hardwiring kits from other manufacturers usually have a cut-off at 11.6 or 11.8.
If you have a car (Diesel run, in particular) having at 12V cut-off can be helpful.
All this @Rs.999 is quite good.

While I have no experience with 70Mai or DDPAI, from online reviews, it seems DDPAI has an unreliable app. Haven't come across instances of batteries exploding. If you want a supercapacitor dashcam at a low cost, Nexdigitron (they are retailers of 70Mai & DDPAI), have launched some models under their own brand that should work. Another option is Redtiger. Don't know about their app though.
If you can stretch your budget, then just get a Viofo unit. Their app is pretty user friendly plus good video quality. I've been using one since over a year now and no complaints.

On the same boat but looking for dual channel with budget ~20k.

I was also curious why major players like 70mai and redtiger aren’t offering super capacitor based dashcams if it is better in hot climates (and how come nexdigiton is able to offer it at competitive prices).

Or is it just marketing hype about super capacitors.
