I went through this process only recently, and changed my Vtec headunit for a new one that is entirely iPod compatible. There are two ways to connect the ipod-compatible models of Pioneer to the iPod:

1. Pioneer ipod Cable : Straight out from the stereo and into the iPod. You can control it entirely from the headunit. What makes it better is that the iPod is charged too! I did away with my 12-cd changer! Cost of cable is less than a grand. Cable model no. is 1200 something and available with Pioneer India.

2. Pioneer iPod adapter : This is like a box which acts as the interface between your HU and the iPod. The cost of this box is about 4 grand. Adapter model is 100 something and is also available with Pioneer India.

I went for a HU that uses option 1 (Pioneer 6950). Totally cool and convenient.

OT, but so totally Apple-cool! Look at the design of the display board that guides you toward the ipod store. It looks like an enlarged ipod cable.

Hey Rush, this junction looks like the one opposite Cadburys. Is it?
