Hey everyone,

I logged on to this forum just yesterday and was impressed by the quality and quantity of the discussions on the various topics......

I need everyone's expert opinion about the ICE system that i should be getting for my FIRST car (Swift vxi)...

I am a resident of mumbai and have decided to spend 20K on ICE. I will be driving with my family and friends so am looking for a system which will cater to all types of music needs.

Please advise w.r.t the system specs and the dealers whom i can source the components from. Please also advise whom should i use to install the system in my car (car dealer or outside party).

Note: As far as possible i dont want to do any wire cutting, as i think that this will void the warranty.

I will really appreciate all the help that i can get on this matter.

Thanks a ton

Hi, thanks for the info.

in chennai the grey market price for 6950 is 6.5k, i asked about the 7950 but he did not have any piece of the model. and the cable which connects to Aux for iPOD support is approximately 200rs.

are you also aware of those differences in iPOD support between the two models?

Greetings, oh Lords of ICE!

I own a Swift with the following setup:
PU 6950HU
Blau Velocity 6.25" comps in front doors
JBL GTO630 6.25" coax in rear doors
JBL GT4.12 sub in the boot
JBL CS 60.2 driving the sub

I find the comps and coax just aren't loud enough. I want to install another amp to power them.

What if I go in for another CS 60.2, with both front and rear speakers conencted in parallel (i.e. no fader controls, but not required for me)?

Will this excessively load my battery (two amps running together)?

What do the Lords recommend?

Thanks in advance!

Jayawant

neither of the amps are large and hence having 2 will not "load the battery" but why not get a 60.4 for 3K more and run all for speakers nicely.

Swift ICE setup 20-22K (Mumbai)

To the ICE gurus,

Based on the various posts that i have been reading (almost religiously) in the past few days, My setup should be something like this (budget 20 -22K):

Pioneer 7950 HU
JBL Component Speakers Front
JBL Co-axial Speakers Rear
mdf(what does this mean??) parcel tray
An amplifier (couldnt quiet remember the brand)

Besides this, do I have to spen something extra on anything??? or is there anything that i have missed out???

Also advice on dealers in mumbai is welcome...

I know that i may be doing all this research a bit too early, but i expect to get very little time once my college starts...

Thanks

Swiftcrazy, costing for items you listed out works out as follows, all approximate prices

HU: 9K
JBL Comps: 6.5 K
JBL 937: 4.5K
JBL AMP ( 60.4): 8K
Wiring: 2.5K minimum ( This is what you forgot and its quite important you use a good wiring, select from brands like Monster, Audison or Scoche)
Installation: Maybe free or 500 bucks

Total: 31K , so I guess we are keeping up our standards of ensuring that our advice crosses the budget of guys seeking advice

Purchase advice for ICE

Thanks Mobike!
As far as stretching the budget goes....well iwill have to just shell it out from my pocket and just keep this small detail from my folks at home.

Just a thought...
Are the prices that you mentioned with B&W?? And is there any way that i can get them cheaper??(like Order them from friends in US etc)

I would appreciate it if someone is able to give me specifics abt where can i get it done in mumbai...

As far as i know, there are some shops near milan(santacruz) and Lamington road area.
Thanks.

Regards

P.S.
Is the estimate given by mobike008 with B&W?
Also is there a way in which i can bring down the cost without affecting quality?

There are a few shops in Andheri (W) as well. Closer to Borivali than Santa Cruz.

Iceing my Swift

Thanx NAvin, BUSA & mobike008!

navin, could you be a little more specific? shop names, landmarks etc

BUSA & mobike, will it be ok if i go for the same stuff without B&W(is that a risk?) and what will be the difference in the prices if i do so?

Also i went through the sites of Monster, Audison & Scoche & I cant make out one wire from another . I guess i will just have to trust the dealer on this aspect.

Any advice wrt dealers is welcome

Thanks

Regards
