I would preffer the pioneer HU against the blau.....as it will have better menu options and more features when compared to blau.......also the pioneer sound better than the blau but it is my opinion... so listen before buying...

Its a crossover and not a speaker. It will send higher frequency to the tweeters and lower frequency to the woofer. It doesn't need to be in the open and can be easily put under dashboard or inside of door panels.
@austere_sly: thanks for clarifying my doubts. Now i am clear with my requirments. I will go ahead with the recommended specifications.

In both cases make sure you connect it as 2 series 2 = 4 ohms.

The 601.1 will be overkill.
Thank you Sam sir.

Can you please tell me the approximate cost of GTO1202D Sub and GTO 301.1 amp??

By the way how can i connect a USB Pen drive or a IPOD to my Pioneer DEH6950IB??
The manual tells that it needs some interface cables, but i am not able to find those. Where can i get it from? What might be the approximate cost??

Thanks in advance,
Vijay

About 20K for the set (along with a good box).

Regards
Bob.

there are two options to connect ipod to headunit.

1 - Get a pioneer cable for 1k. Cable will have 3.5 jack and it will connect to hu via aux in port. You will have to change songs from ipod and will have to charge ipod from car charger.

2 - get a pioneer ipod adapter for 5k. In this adapter you can change songs directly from headunit and ipod will charge with same cable.

Methods are same which I was going to write, but I will have to differ on price front.

1 - 3.5 mm jack's Aux In cable comes for 30 rs. Even if you go for branded one, max it should be is Rs 100.

2 - CD-I200 cable which will be used as interface cable for ipod will cost $30 at this site.
Pioneer Electronics - Sound. Vision. Soul

Getting this one India could be Rs 200 above or below $ 30.

for IPOD Mugen Ji has given the two possible ways .......I would prefer the later one with which one can control from the HU itself....

for the USB pendrive you need a adapter to connect it to the HU and it is something like this......CD-UB100

Thanks a lot for the replies guys.

I have one more question for all ICE gurus...

What is the difference between a single voice coil and a dual voice coil in a sub woofer?
Is a dual voice coil sub woofer as good has having two single voice coil sub woofers?
What are the main points to be considered before selecting a good sub woofer?

Thanks in advance,
Vijay

I am gonna buy a Swift Zxi.
I have checked this thread till this page.
I am a bit confused as to what config should I go for?
I have kept aside 20k for ICE.I basically listen to a mix of songs, but am more of a hard rock & hip hop & RnB guy.I plan to limit the speakers to the doors only.
Also one more thing,I have a 8GB memory stick and a N91 but NO IPOD,so in this case which player would be best for me?
So could all the gurus please advice as to which HU + speaker config would suit my needs.
Also one question out of why is SONY xPLOD not preferred, and I see pioneer being a clear choice with most of the guys out here?Am not a fanboy of sony, but asking this just out of curiosity.
Thanks.

hello eminememeiniemce!!

And welcome to this naughty corner of TBHP.

Yes we are guilty of not recommending sony HUs. Not that they are bad, but the general opinion is that Pioneer, Clarion, Blaupunkt, JVC, Kenwood make better HUs.

For you I would recommend the following

1) A nice HU with an Auxilliary input (for your mobile)
2) A 4 channel amplifier
3) a pair of 6" component speakers
4) a Pair of 6" coaxial speakers.

You'll have money left over to take someone special out. But that will be another story.

Any particular models for the HU,amplifiers and speakers in mind(I would then directly ask the dealer directly if he has them else bye bye).

HU: Pio, Blau, Clarion, Kenwood and JVC. (Alpine might be outside the budget) at 6K. If you ask me for model numbers you'll get all wrong information.
Amp: Blau GT4 Special (recomended by B&T) or Pio 6200 (a fav here) at 7K
Speakers: 7K for 2 pairs of 6" coax. I would recomend JBL's CS series (Sam cannot recommend JBL as he represents them but they are good speakers) or Blau's THc series. The general verdict here is that Pioneer is bettered by JBL and Blau (but I would still give them a careful listen) and Sony should be avoided.
