I searched the thread for a suitable reply to my query, but I didnt find one that's why I am posting here.

My Dad will be getting delivery of his new Swift Lxi at the end of the month. I have already got a good deal for the HU of the ICE. I got a Blaupunkt Maui MP36 for 5K (B&W, insurance and 2 XPlod tweeters incl.). The output of this player is 4 X 45W.

Can anyone suggest suitable 6'' speakers for the front doors and 6'' X 9'' speakers for the rear parcel shelf? My budget is 5-6K at max.

Please give the minutest details coz I have no idea abt ICEs. I am not really interested in heavy bass music...my interests are mainly mainstream Hindi music and some soft English rock and country. Oh yeah, and the parcel shelf should not rattle.

Also, if anyone could suggest good dealers where I can get a good deal for the speakers in the Opera House area (Mumbai), I would be really grateful.

Hey even i was in same situation and finally decided not to install MGA Audio products. They dont have variety and Sony sucks when it comes to car audio is my personal thought. Its better off you dont fit MGA if theres no variety. You can find other options with the Budget that you have. Just make sure that if you fit any non MGA Audio system make sure the installers dont cut or peel any wires in your car or otherwise the warranty of the Electronic stuff in the car will be void. Now a days there are harneses available i guess which avoids cutting peeling of original car wires.

For more information you can also visis the following thread.

Great Sounding Audio for Swift with B&W.

Hi BHPians and Gurus,

Guys u rock for the information and the help you provide to novices for car audio selection. Every thread i peep into for swift audio i see all the recommendations for models in grey market most of the times. I do wonder some people here willing to buy with b&w are sometimes forced unintentionally to buy either all the components or atleast the HU in grey. Kudos to SAM for reminding once in a while to buy everything in b&w. Yes then again the Budget increases but its not at the cost of peace of mind.
I guess we should have a separate thread which will help novice like me to get all officially available products(HU,Comps,Coax, remote etc) for audio. If we do have a thread then please let me know or lets start with this thread.
Apologizes in advance if you find any of my posts repetitive.

Gurus following are my requirements.

1. Your Car: Swift DDIS VDI ABS.

2. Your current setup (If any): None

3. Your Budget: Max 25K currently. Will customize later when i have more cash.

4. Do you drive most of the time or is it chauffer driven? Its my First Car so still exploring. But most of the times it would be me and my friends.

5. Your Music preferences (Genres, favorite artists, etc.): Rock(Metallica, Megadeth, Pearl Jam, Nirvana etc) also listen to Hindi Dance/Oldies numbers and casually Hip Hop.

Additional Information:

6. Are you ready to sacrifice your boot space/modify door panels? : Do not want to modify the Door Panels. But would upgrade to a detachable sub later once have some more money in my kitty. Would prefer Speakers in the door. Want an equilizer in the HU from where i can customize the sound preferences.

My Current Findings -

Blaupunkt HU - St Louis MP56
F.Speakers -Components - Blau. THc 662
R.Speakes- Coaxial - Blau. GTx 663
Total Cost Including installation - 24140/- with b&w.

Comments from DerAlte - (thnx DerAlte for the reply)

Simple - cross check with a listed Blau dealer; they usually have their own installers.
Different combinations of HU and speakers are also welcomed.

JBL all the way !!

Pioneer HU
JBL Components - Front - Door i.e.
JBL Component - Rear - Door i.e.

If your burget permits - JBL Sub + Amplifier

There are different ranges avaliable in JBL. It is the 'best' VFM product available in the market today. Good price. Easily available. Full support. Great Re-Sale Prices [for up grade]. System can be built one step at a time.

I would recommend :-

HU + Front Comps + Sub + AMP for now.
Rear Comps - later if you feel the need and budget permits.

Thanks for the reply Bhagwan Bhai, vebmetal and adityamunshi.

Currently my preference would be not to consider AMP+Sub, its something that i will go for later if i feel the HU output doesnt satisfy my sound sences but i want to keep the options open for later customization.

Bhagwan Bhai i respect your recommendation but can u tel me which JBL comps should i consider for my kind of music as from the forum it appeared that there is some GT5 series launched.
How is the Blau combination that i have mentioned?

It was very easy for me to get the information on Blau b&w price as well as demo but not for St. Louis MP56 and the velocity series. However everyone any say on that would help me a lot.

Who fares when we compare Blau St Louis MP56 and Pioneer 6090 when we consider SQ and features?

Vebmetal let me check where in Pune i can audition Illusion series you mentioned.

Vebmetal and adityamunshi i consider the prices mentioned by you are b&w.

Again thnx a tone guys for the reply

Friends any suggestions on the following speaker sets and HU. Which would be best for my taste for Rock Music(Metallica, Megadeth, Nirvana, Pearl Jam etc and Hindi Dance numbers and oldies also casually hip hop and trance).

Kicker Component - 600.2 and 600.5
Kicker Coaxial(2 way) - 650

Hertz Component - DSK 165
Hertz Coaxial - DSR 165

Polk Audio Component - DB650
Polk Audio Coaxial(2 way) - DB651

JBL Component - GTO607c
JBL Coaxial - GTO637

Infinity Reference Component - 6020cs
Infinity Reference Coaxial(2 way) - 6022i

Blaupunkt Component - THc662
Blaupunkt Coaxial - GTx663

HU - Pioneer 6050UB, Blaupunkt St. Louis MP56, Alpine 9847(but has no USB).

Very tough to decide for me as the ICE shops here do not provide any audition. help me decide Gurus and BHPians. The ICE shop said that Kicker would be best for my sound taste and said Polk is better then Infinity and is also marine proof.

If you dont want ti bright I would look at Infinity. I have not heard Hertz but of that list Polk must be the brightest and Infinity the least bright. The rest fall somewhere in between.

Good Going Dude!

Your choice of Blau now seems to have been only for the price + Bill &W factor! Did you listent o them? and listen to other Brands to compare?

I would suggest you listen to (component speakers)

1. JBL Compos
2. Illusion Compos [EL6.1]
3. Hertz
4. Ground Zero Compos
5. Audible Dynamics [for the cost factor]
6. Polk - if you like them, good for you!
7. Pioneer is always a great choice [Originals]

So you have a wide variety of 6.5"Compos from various brands in your affordable price range!

I would go by choosing a Great Compos and HU now to be strictly under budget! So you make your decision, for your budget Just pick these for now:

1. Front 6.5"Compos Rs.6000 to 8000
2. A Great Head Unit - this is very important as the source makes a huge difference! - Rs.20,000 to 25,000

So that would be just around your budget! [+ a little more, as always with TBHP!!] Keep it a decent 30K now.

Adding a Sub + Amplifier at the next stage would be cool!

A lot of our fellow members from Pune have great stuff in their cars. I'm sure many would volunteer to give you a demo (and volunteer for a few beers thereafter).
