Just take her car, get a good pioneer HU fitted and show her that pioneer can sound good too. Once it is bought, what can she do? You can still return it but Pios are not that bad.

I must make a visit to Sam's office. Wonder what I will find! After Alpine's dismal performance starting with the 985x series and now poor speedzak complaining about the 9835 (Hopefully Gunbir and JB will change that) I am now looking at Clarion as a new reference unless someone can suggest a better brand (not just 1 model like the P80, I mean a better brand where all models confirm to a basic minimum standard). To do that I would love to listen to any system based on a Clarion 766/866, HXD1/HXD2.

Obviously the first system I might get to listen to is Sam's 368 based system but that is just the low end. I figure the 766/866 would cover the mid end and the HX D1/D2 would cover the extreme high end.

Navinji, I am running the HX-D2 in my car... It sounds goose bump inducing beautiful. The BB volume pot... is yummmm.... I could go on and on and on..... As far as we are concerned, this unit is second only to the McIntosh MX5000.

We have also used the 956 (see Barracuda install), very nice sounding unit again. But no TA (except in active mode). Great graphics/display. Touch screen. Music Catcher feature works well. A bit pricey considering basic audio features.

Also used the 356(model?) in a friends basic setup in his Santro. Been using it for over 2yrs now, no issues at all. If you want a basic 4 speaker setup + preamp out, this unit works well. Build quality was good for the price.
