No. I have been using this with SJ4000. This comes with the standard 3/8" thread plate. So I think you should be able to use it with the SJ1000 along with one of its mounts that can be connected to a suction cup.

I see SJ5000 too being sold by Puhui Digital. What is the difference w.r.t SJ4000? Though the nomenclature seems to be that of a newer version, is that really the case?

If anyone can provide me with an alternative sturdy car mount i would be grateful!
I had ordered SJ4000 from US. Unfortunately it has broken down. Tried various updates/tips etc but no use. Initially it was working fine and in its later days used it to take pics. But now it's completely dead.

The mounts were a huge let down since they were very smooth. All you need is just a small version sand paper and gently rub on the joint. On the case as well as mount.

For a car mount, you can buy a generic mobile phone mount with clamp. It does the job perfectly. The sj should be out of case though.

DIY fix for SJ1000 video shakes and vibrations.

After getting the delivery of SJ1000, on my first impression I knew that it is wonderful compact video cam capable of recording HD 1080p videos. It also had the ingredients of a perfect dashcam like loop recording, excellent exposure control etc.

But what let it down are the mounts provided with it. As I have bought the cam primarily to be used as dashcam, it was a big let down.

I tried exploring the reason of vibration, and found that windshield suction mount was okay, but the mount in which the Sj1000 fits into is flimsy and that’s the culprit.

I tried fixing the issue by tightening the screws, but it didn’t help.

After many trials and errors, I figured out an effective and cheap way that is working fine now. This has fixed the vibrations and shakes in the videos, despite the car riding over potholes.

Materials used:
  1. 3M double sided tape cut into small square piece (provided with the SJ1000)
  2. A self locking plastic strap, provided with the SJ1000.
  3. Brown tape to hold the joint of the mounts together (optional)

Summary of steps:
  • Use the plastic strap to tighten the SJ1000 with the flimsy mount (on which it swivels).
  • Attach the small square piece of 3M double sided tape on the top side of SJ1000.
  • At this moment don’t uncover other side of the tape. Now, adjust the mounts to bring the SJ1000 closer to the windshield.
  • Next, uncover the other side of the tape in the SJ1000 and attach it to the windshield.
  • Now tighten the screws accordingly.

One may also wrap the joint between the two mounts with brown tape for better stability (Optional)

Job done.

Refer to the pictures below.

And sample video over worst stretches of roads (Note: The video is not original SJ1000 piece but has been compressed for size. But it will depict the vibrations being removed)

I have decided to purchase SJ4000 (i have to buy it from India as I want to use it for my Spiti trip from 15th Sept, need delivery by that time). I am getting it for Rs 9000 (expensive as compared to Aliexpress etc. but can not help it). However i am having problem of car suction mount. Can anyone please help me with name (model and place where you bought) for a good suction mount for it.

My SJ1000 Car charger is broken. I need a replacement. On checking the V-A rating of the OE car adaptor, I found that it is 12V to (5V, 1000ma (1 Amp)) convertor.
Could anyone please point to me if similar rated charger is available online?

Anyone here aware of a selfie stick that can control the sjcam 4000 wifi? Or a remote control module for the sjcam?

Re: SJ1000 Action / Dash Camera - An extended review(SJM10 update pg.15)

Question to all those in the know about Dashcam trends and pricing:

Is it cost effective to buy a Dashcam in the U.S.? (Just as it is true for say laptops)

Thanks!

I bought SJCAM 5000 Wifi model from Singapore for 200 SGD.

Have been very lazy to put it to use in car, saw there is a 360 deg swivel Dash mount available for Rs 850 on Flipkart, not buying it as I am not sure of the quality.
