Wow the Pio 4151UB looks neat and cool! Any idea about the specs?

What do you think the prices of Pio 4151 or 5151 would be atleast in grey? Is it worth to wait for it? I'm very much close to get my Palio ICEd up and i'm ok to wait also

Cheap, relaiable, good sound quality with USB slot?

Hi All,

My Amby came with a Kenwood tape deck and speakers, the sound quality of the speakers is very good, hence I need to change on the Head Unit, Please advice me on which is a good head unit, which is relaiable and has good sound quality (I for one don't like excess bass, though I don't know if this is HU specific or overall specific), the other criteria is I want a USB slot so that a pen drive can be connected to the same, for ease of tranfering mp3 files.

Yeterday, I checked out the Sony store and the cheapest HU they have with USB is Rs 7,999.00 (8k).

Please advice me on other options I may have with and without B/W, and cheaper than the above.

Thanks in advance.

last week i made an enquiry for Pioneer 3090U and the guy quoted 8400/- with 2year W and 1 year anti theft insurance. Yesterday there was a follow up call from this same guy, I told him that I got better deal for same HU from other shop. Now he is ready to give same model HU @ 7500/- with B/W.

I checked the Pioneer site and their name(Radio ware house,Chennai) was listed as authorised distributors for Tamilnadu.
Shall I go for this deal?
Note: its for my Swift Vxi. I am having 2 Pio Oval speakers from my old car, Need to get 2 Pio speakers for my front door alone.

Hi Friends,

Dont know if this the right thread to ask my question. My friend has gone for some work to US and while returning he can get me a HU. Should i get a HU from US for my new car? Will there be any issues with FM transmission in India ? Will it have warranty in India? I was willing to spend around 10-12k with B/W in India for HU? Can any one of you suggest a good HU for this price range with USB ?

Thanks,
tush.

1. most HU's have the FM stations or whatever that can be switched between US and indian systems, so shouldnt be an issue
2. nope, no warranty
3. there are some good kenwood HU's in that price range. some pioneers also , but they make more sense bought at grey rates

back on topic, got the following quotes a few weeks back
alpine 9872:8k
alpine 9845:8.5k

@greenhorn,

Thanks for the reply. Would alpine, eclipse would be a good choice? If yes, which model of alpine or eclipse would be good at this price range?

Hi Tush i think H.U having European tuning will work here fine. Some H.U's like Alpine Pioneer etc don't have that feature if brought from U.S so may not work here,a few months back i had mailed Crutchfield regarding this and they said H.U's without European tuning will not work here in India. So better get it clarified first before getting it from U.S

The cost of JVC is near about 10.5 to 12k . right now costly due to change in dollar prices.

May be will come down later.

I just sold my avx11 for 8.5k

I was quoted a Pioneer DVH-6050UB for around 14.5 without B&W about a month back. The same unit with B&W costs around 21k. This plays DVD and has USB slot at the front. There are some JVC/Sony HUs that might come in the 10-12 k that has USB and DVD functionality. I am not aware of the model numbers of those however.
