I second that. Unfortunately, when the stock HU of my OHC was stolen I was not aware of TBHP & little did i know of all the combinations one can try before deciding on the final ICE set up. I tried Pioneer & Sony Xplod (not sure of the model nos. of both of them) and though the Pioneer sounded better I settled down with Sony because it had auxiliary input to connect my walkman / iPOD etc. Plus, Sony was more flashy whilst the Pioneer had black and white antiquated LCD Thanks to TBHP now I know what to look for when I upgrade the ICE of my next new car. By the way, the Sony with the stock OHC speakers sounds quite good. Wondering what will be acoustic experience if i were to listen to some of the ICE set up of BHPians here

On the side notes, my Santro Xing ICE sounds really good. It came with JVC HU (again not sure of the model no.) and the stock front speakers. All I did was to pick up a pair of Pioneer speakers and the board and got them installed. After which the sound quality is brilliant! Now I know I picked up Pio coax (for I think 2.6k in NOIDA) and MDF

whats the price of JVC KW-AVX810 and JVC KW-AVX44?
is the difference in sound quality huge between JVC and pioneer? i like JVC because its inexpensive and feature rich.
also, does the above two HUs have a sub o/p?

I just bought the JVC AVX 44 yesterday with the steering remote for 20.5k in Hyderabad. The 810/814 was for about 23.5k. Yes both have a sub o/p. SQ between the JVC and Pioneer, I dont have any idea. However it also depends on which Pioneer model we are trying to compare with. The JVC 810/44 will definitely not be up to the standards of P80RS/P80RSII. There are mixed reviews (as read from other online forums) as to which is better between the JVC and Pioneer (excluding the reference series). If you compare directly with the Pioneer AVH-4050DVD which is in similar price range (well few grands extra) of JVC 810/44, the JVC is definitely better in features and most likely on the SQ also.

I bought a JVC KD AVX 44 some 2-3 months ago or so. I bought it for 16K.
Am pretty happy with the SQ.

Also, can guys who've had the pio 4050 for nearly 2 years, comment on longevity? I am quite inclined to 5090 when I do for the 3 pre-outs and 2 yr peace of mind (6.5k gray, 8k white, the 4050 is 5500 types). please to advise. mucho thanks

I think newer version of pioneer is due now like instead of 3050UB the 3150UB is out with a flipdown face, front USB slot and AUX.looks very neat.you can expect the Pio 4150UB,5150UB,6150UB coming next in a few months

ariendj, the cost of 5050 should be in the range of 6000-6500 max i suppose. The 6050 which i bought 1 month ago cost 9200(with bill and warranty). So by no means can the 5050 sell for 8500.

You can get a 6050 and i can swear by its audio quality. Its brilliant. You can try to get it from 8750-9000 is you haggle hard
