MRP prices.

B & W prices of the following Alpine HUs :

CDE-9881
: Rs 11,999
CDA-9884: Rs 13,999

KCE-422i iPod cable: Rs 1999

This has to be bought separately unless you make good friends with the dealers.

Thanks speedzak! Would you be aware of the price of the CDE-9873 ?

Are the 9881 and 9884 the next ones up, after the 9873 ?

Hmm...that's strange. I never noticed a 9880 on the official Alpine site.

Hi Team, I am planning to upgrade from my OE version of head unit to a current trend one. My requirement is a MP3, USB with the iPod connectivity. My car has a OE Honda Alpine system. When I was going through the forum I noticed CDA-9884E and CDA-9886, please can you let me know what the price would also difference in these two models.

Also I want to know is 9887 more advanced than this 2 models, please do let me know some models in Pioneer which will suit my requirements.

Hi Zak,

I believe that Alpine is currently going through some price revisions.
Is the B&W price of the 9880 and 9881 still 10K and 12K respectively ?

Any idea on their Grey market prices ?

My 2002 Maruti 800 5-speed has an ancient JVC KS-FX12 tuner/cassette HU + 4 speakers wired.
It delivers per channel 40W max (16W root mean square @ < 0.7% total harmonic distortion) into 4Ω speakers in the front and in the rear.

Now I am shopping for a budget HU (about Rs. 8000) that can play MP3s out of a USB-drive.

Two models being considered are:
Sony Xplod CDX-GT470U
and Pioneer DEH-3050/4050.

Any advice? Should I up the budget?
Should I consider some other models?
Where in Mumbai is the best shop to buy? Best shop to install?

Sony is a No-No. Go for Pio.

Please post details of the rest of your setup.

1. Try Pio or JVC. I saw the 5050 for 7K but I think that was grey. For 8K you can get a Kenwood as well.
2. In Mumbai Milan subway in Santa Cruz and Lamington Road, Opera house are 2 places where you see many shops.

Dont go for the pioneer 3050 especially. I have a 3050 and it has trouble reading certain mp3s. Search for thread regarding this in tbhp itself. Otherwise the sound quality of the pioneer is good.

Pio 5090 is very similar to Pio 5050. 5090 is the official version in India (this is the one that you will get with B&W) 5050 can be procured in gray.
