It does help a lot. I intend to run the car till 2031 when its registration ends, so I thought this was a necessary upgrade the vehicle deserves. I intend to add the Blaupunkt HD reversing camera with moving guidelines as well.

Re: Sony vs Pioneer Head-Units

Hi All!
Planning to get an HU installed in a 2024 Grand Vitara. I'll probably get it installed from Chandigarh.
My requirements (in given order):
1) Wireless and wired Apple Carplay/ Android Auto
2) Bigger Screen (primarily for navigation)
3) Fast Software
4) Capacitive Touch
5) Ability to work with existing car hardware (steering controls)

Also need an input for these two things: -
1) Get from a local guy near my place or from Chandigarh (as it has availability of OEM parts like USB port)? If Chandigarh, please suggest some decent shops - google is flooded with mixed reviews for shops in Sec 28.
2) Go for the 360 degree camera or front+rear camera?

TIA!

Would you be able to recommend someone in Gurugram/Delhi NCR?

Re: Sony vs Pioneer Head-Units

I am in a dilemma; while the Sony XAV-AX8500 is a good unit, it costs Rs.99,990. I can potentially pay that much money on the HU, given that I intend to run the Honda City till 2032. However, much more affordable Android HU's are available at a tenth of Sony's price. On a recent visit to Karol Bagh market, I was told by several dealers that Android units would slow down and lag over their life cycle while Sony/ Pioneer units continue to work without problems. Does the Sony unit justify the purchase if we do a cost/benefit analysis?

Why you're not looking at affordable 9" sony with neat installations?
Consistent performance is the key feature I'm seeing in these branded products, it's tad cheaper in middleast if you can procure from there.

Installed with proper frame for honda city. Initial impressions, very good. Sound quality has improved by couple of notches. Thoroughly enjoying apple carplay, Full review in my ownership review soon…

Lacks a few features mate:
1) no Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
2) Resistive touch instead of capacitive

I'm using a lower model AX4000 7" with wireless car play and resistive touch.

IMO resistive touch is easy to use while driving and precise.
Map zooming if required, it's through +/- touches only.
Android auto is wired due to some regional restrictions.

There are some other capacitive units like AX5500 or something,
Some positives about capacitive are the seamless thin bezel looks, zooming in maps.

Fit and finish of Sony models depends upon the installer skills and the dashboard trim kit only.

Thanks for the information buddy, it really helps. I think I'll go ahead with XAV-AX6000. It ticks all boxes and doesn't burn a huge hole in the pocket. Its a smaller screen (7 inch) against my wish (9 inch) but its an ok compromise.

My second request would be any leads on "the dashboard trim kit". Any suggestions from quality manufacturers for this model - XAV-6000 for Honda City 2016.

Do check out the Pioneer Z6350BT if you are willing to spend another 5-6k over the Sony. My review link-
