@ashish,ishaan,lbm,b&t,zucchero,sam and all:
can we sit down for a couple of crates of beer (single malt for ishaan) and discuss the ICE situation for the EX?
coz the truck is 2 months away...but like everyone else here i'm thirsty as hell!
ch** (chai) option can be made available too for those who wont drink lager.

mods:it's not OT because i swear we're still discussing ICE

Doc - Like Sam said earlier, clarify two things here:

1. Your budget, whatever you're comfortable spending on the car's ICE. Can range from 10k to 400k (like LBM!!), depending on how important ICE is in your scheme of things.

2. Also list out what the ICE is primarily going to be used for and in what seating position. For eg. whether you're an Audio buff who wants crystal clear sound while driving the car himself or whether you want to watch movies on a screen while being chauffered around.

That ways these insane genuises/mad men can give you some great ideas to bankrrupt yourself Good Luck & Happy ICE'ing!!

P.S. If you need any help in Delhi for this, feel free to call me!

My first car CD player was a Sony D160 (circa 1987) dont even get me started on tape decks and speakers. Suffice to say I built a car stereo system before I started engg. college.

LBM's system only cost 400K?

I hope "crystal clear sound" does not involve TS20s.

Navin-ji, does TS20 refer to the 2" Alnico magnet speakers used in transistor radios of yore? Perish the thought!

No, it costed much more. You can look at his earlier setup & subsequent changes to determine a rough idea. IIRC the total he's spent till now is near about what his car costed!!

No. Those 2" speakers were nearly fullrange. I had mesaured some from 250Hz up to 10K. They had other limitations though.

Cd Changer for the Safari EX 2.2

Gurus,

I would like to know what is a good CD changer for the Safari EX 2.2. I am keeping the stock ICE system, but would like to add a CD changer to the kit. Unfortunately the Safari does not have an option to take a 2 DIN system.

Any advise on this greatly appreciated.

thanks
Srinivas

Which HU do you have in you EX? If it is the Blaupunkt, you can get a Blau external CD changer that can be mounted either below the driver's or passenger seat, or in the niche below the right-side jump seat at the back (is normally covered with a plastic panel). You will need to mount it so that the CD tray cartridge is accessible.

HUs with integrated CD changers might need 2DIN space, externals get mounted elsewhere, usually in the boot / dickey.

Ice On Existing Safari

BOY O BOY,

right from the HU to all speakers in Safari is "CRAP",

I've donated my existing speaker to my other car mechanic and used MBQuart Components (all four and two tweeters) with MBQuart Sub woofer in my EX.(GERMAN MAN IT'LL LAST A LIFE TIME! LIKE MY BUG)

Used a 4 ch sony amp and now the basic (to the power on n) HU is getting changed to Sony DVD and 2 headreast mount LCD's.

IAM more happy with the way things are shaping up on my DICOR.

Costing has taken a beating, I had to spend almost 65K for the whole.

But you have to do these atleast to keep you in the BEAST, happy.
