Why not just get a decent pio/kenwood HU with USB at the same price?

Or wait you want video so you can get away with the LCD at home.

I listened to a setup
1. Kenwood CD player(Some expensive CD player without any features)
2. JBL 75.4
3. JBL 12" sub in a aftermarket box
4. GTO 607 Compo in front

I did not like it.
The setup sounded very flatty and bassy.
Sub gives good bass, and tweeters give good treble, but inspite of flat settings on the HU, the guitars sounded deadish.
The base was a little too much.
Currently I have some lousy sony explode coax in rear. The amount of base they give is very bad as far as sound quality is concerned, but slightly less than the sound level I need.
So I am wondering whether I should go for a sub, or go for some very very good Coax in the rear which will give me better base than my current sony Xplode and also play out the 300Hz range bass guitar base.
The subwoofer kindof made the base guitar lousy and the base was all drum base. The slighly higher frequency base was lost. I did not like it at all.
I think a brigher combo will be better for rock.
So how about the best coax under 5K(Grey for rear) and some compos better than GTO 607 for the front?? Please help :(

Well you never mentioned what kind of box it was... my guess is, that it was ported, thus the bass was overpowering. A good MDF sealed enclosure would give you ideal bass, and kick, without overpowering your mids...

the significant difference between a pair of 6x9s and a 12" sub is that the 6x9s will not play as loud and wont go as low. In some way the 6x9 might have more attack and will provide more output at say 300Hz. a Sub is only intended to be used below 80 Hz or so.

The system you heard might not have been tuned or installed properly. The sub might be producing more BOOM than tight bass.

Ideally your front speakers shoudl be doing all the work around 300Hz.

What car did you hear this in Tanveer? That also can make a lot of difference apart from the already mentioned Box type.

This was a speedonlines swift. I think that is supposed to be a very good install.

The Swift must have been tuned for the janta taste. I too think it must have been:
1) Bad/Erroneous box design for the sub
2) Bad tuning
3) Both of the above.

Because the equipment mentioned is good, and has been proven in other installs, in fact in the same combination. (Except maybe the Kenwood player -- which we must not fault). And show/demo cars rarely sound good. Yes, I know this is a funny statement as these cars are meant to sell the goods, but with the exception of my installer's personal car, I'm yet to listen to a shop's demo car that sounds good to me. And even my installer's car starts sounding less good to me when the car is setup for demo use in a show.

In your case, getting a good pair of 6x9s and amping them with the 75.4 does sound like a good idea. Unless you want pretty deep bass, the 6x9s should give you the thump and low-end you need. If you're getting GTO 607c in front, go for GTO937s in back. You can always get a sub later and use the (rear channels of the) same amp if you want to.

It could be that you prefer a kind of sound different from that of the kind that the GTOs produce. Listen to other brands if you can, and see. GTOs are great for rock, and that is why I think you should try them out in a proper install. I don't think it would be difficult to get to listen a BHPian's setup with GTOs installed in Noida?

I am not cribbing about the sound quality really.
The bass was good, the treble was good. From accuracy and cleanness, even the midrange was good.
But the midrange lacked punch.
In a drum there is this large circular drum on the floor for "boob" and real low sound, and 3 or 4 small drums which are hit by sticks.
In any nice rock song the small drums are very very important, and their sound is like a "tak". That punch was lacking.
Even the vocals in that frequency range(may people can call it screaming) sounded dead.
It was all clean, but the front components failed on the midrange and low midrage(just above bass) response.
Treble was done good by tweeters, and the low base was taken care of by the subwoofer, but the midrange died.
In my indica I have 2 6" and 2 4" and they handle the midrange and top end pretty well but start "breaking" if too much bass is there.

Tanveer, you have champagne taste on a beer budget. The dynamics you want arent really available at the price point you are looking at. Consider raising the bar and listening to some more expensive stuff.

Can afford only beer, Hence the 30K budget.
I am willing to sacrifice on the low bass front to get a nice clean mid range and upper bass. If the current setup can't do that. I am willing to part with the subwoofer for now!

Not likely since the box was made by JB himself according to the specs of the woofer (JBL GT4-12).
