Thanks in advance.
The new ones are fine Doc Sahab, though the official distributor hasn't got the new models yet. They are still selling the 9856 & 9857 with B&W. The 9856 & 57 didnt have any crossover features, but IIRC the new ones do. And the 9887 has complete Time Alignment, selectable active 3way crossover etc.

BTW, can you please find out for us the prevailing grey market prices of the 9881, 9883, 9885 and 9887. Thanks in advance.

Thank you, Sir.
I was quoted 18.5K for the 9885 & I think Razor paid 13.5K for his 9881. I will find out the prices of the other models & let you know. Prices in Kolkata are usually higher than in other Indian metros.

Thanks for the correction, Razor.
I ran a comparison between the 9881, 9883 & 9885 on the Alpine website & found your 9881 isn't HD-radio-ready, sattelite-radio-ready, bluetooth-ready or CD-changer-ready. I wouldn't be ready to fork out another 5.5K for these features anyway. So, congratulations on a great choice.
However, do let me know if you decide to upgrade.

Yup, thanks! I have no need for those additional features, so never considered anything higher than this. There was another Alpine HU (don't remember the model no.) which costs 20K+, and does not play CD's! Just Bluetooth and Sat Radio I think (anyone know the model?).

I think that's the iDA-X001. Alpine's suggested price for this is 450 USD. For the CDE-9881 it is 200 USD.

Does it look like this?

If yes, it is the IVA-W205. It has 3 preouts (2V).

It is a good HU. it doesn't come with 3 pre-outs though.
It also comes in NHC. Before it used to only play Audio CDs. Now, it can also play MP3s. A very good sounding HU it is.
