What i have recently found out from some websites is that USB audio plays in stereo sound. Is this true?

What do you mean? What's the other option? Mono?

The data on the USB (wav, mp3, wma) will play as it has been encoded. If it's encoded in stereo, it will play in stereo. I don't understand your question.

Yes to both of you.

@Nitrous the model is 5050. USB + iPod capability. Red backlighting and not the 5090 blue type.

@DEV - If you mean that Car Stereo systems (headunits) support USB playback, then Yes.

Can i leave the co-axials at the back without an amp due to budget constraints and get front comps, sub and 4ch amp? or should I not get front components at the moment and get a better sub and 4ch amp for rear speakers and sub?

Yeah you can connect run the rear coaxes from the Hu and use the Amp to power the front compos and the sub, front components are important then the rear coaxes unless you are being driven and not driving.

BTW what are you planning for the speakers and the amp, and have you bought the HU?

I am planning to Stick to Gunbir's Suggestion of JVC, but if I get an alpine with aux for a good price.. I dont know. most gurus and most other sites say Alpine rocks

My Budget- 15K upto a max 23K
My needs

1. HU- Hu with good sound. my research shows that Alpine/Eclipse are best followed by Clarion/Pioneer. USB will be good. Aux may do as an alternative. SD capability will be fair. Dont see much about blaupunkts or JVC's

2. Front Components- A shopwala showed Blau's for 3500 and JBL's for 4500. Dont have much more info on this.

3. Sub- planning a JBL 12" tube for 5200. Alternative would be pioneer/blaupunkt for around 4500 estimated.

4. Amp- looking at 2 amps. Most shops in Abad suggested using Sony's with b/w but I am leaning towards a JBL 60.4 and a Sony 2ch.

please suggest me to invest my money wisely. I dont know anyone around carrying hertz, cerwin vega etc. It means I will have to stick to blaus, pioneers, Sony's, JBL's, JVC's and Alpine's.

Gunbirs suggestion on JVC seems sensible considering your budget
lets calculate backwards
Max budget 15-23k

Minus the following from your budget
Install fees = 500-600bucks
if you use a rear board for a sub ( other than the tube) = 600-800bucks(NA if you go for tube)

Amp wiring 2500rs

Now decent front components GTO607 , Illusions ,hertz Dieci= 5800-6000rs. the cheapest would be GT5 series components for 4500 rs as you have found out

Sub : base tube as you say = 5200rs or if you take a GT5 grey = 5600rs

Amp : anywhere from 6k to 8k for a decent sub

Add 500instal +2500Amp wiring +4500 compos+5200bass tube+6000Amp=18700rs

You have already reached the miiddle of your budget and still you need to buy and HU!
so basically it depends on how much you can stretch - JVC would fit the bill or pioneer too

Did some more research, went to Autoexpo and played around with various units.
Was least impressed by JVC and Alpine(surprising since many people recommend it)
Pioneer was average but the one to listen was Fujitsu. The best HU I ever heard.
Now this is how I have broken it down.

1. HU
Kenwood X9006U (11K grey. good price?)
JVC G824 (7700 grey)/ Sh1000 (9800 grey) (based on availability and if any is better)
Pioneer 6050UB (about 9K grey)

2. Woofer (no tubes please)
soundstrem picaasso 12" (5700 with bill good price?)
JBL ??? (what price and models??)
Blaupunkt???? (what price and models??)
Rckford fosgate punch p112s4- 6131 b/w

3. components
JBL 4500 b/w
blau 3000 grey (3500 b/w)

4. Amplifier
JBL 60.4/ 75.4 (price?)
Blaupunkt ???
any other?

JVC SH1000 doesn't seem to be too good for that price. () Pioneer 7950 or 6050 seems to be a better bet and they are both at least 1K cheaper.

Your listening impression at the Auto Expo cannot be considered a reflection of any one component of the system, leave alone the HU. The demo cars were poorly installed and tuned and I don't think its fair to judge HUs from your experience.

Besides, I think the Eclipse + DLS car was the most expensive ICE demo at the show, yet for the equipment installed in the car, it sounded average at best.

Just my thoughts on this...

The JVC SH1000 was one of the first USB HUs made a couple of years ago. It doesn't make any sense at all, unless you were OK with very limited USB/SD functionality.

your point on Alpine makes sense. But one doesnt expect the same at the Alpine store itself.

For the Fujitsu install, I judeged the capability based on the sound clarity even when the car next to it was booming loud and wild. But 32K for 7100 is ridiculous.

Gunbir and others, make me a good system online which I can install.

my budget roughly 20,000 and probably below that would be great.

1. HU- I need USB, lots of tweaks to customize sound to my liking and looks to go with my lancer interiors. My current kenwood gels perfectly and sounds excellent but its a basic cassette player with cd changer. I liked Kenwood x9006u a lot and JVC G824 looks good vfm. Pioneer 6050u I am not sure and SH1000 is now out based on your post. suggest me alpine, clarion or eclipse if they meet my req and budget. I am getting Eclipse 5100 from US for about $400. Is it good?

2. Amplifier- I need amp to power up my sub. Also Some said I need an amp to power my comps but some said I dont. Hence I cant decide whether I need a 2-ch, 4ch or mono.

3. Components- I think JBL and blaupunkt are good. JBL for 4500 b/w and Blau for 3000 grey. I think blau's would be ok as the difference in the sQ would be marginal enough to not justify another 1000-1500 for JBL.

4. Sub - I looked at Soundstream, punch RF, JBL and Blaupunkt. Soundstream atleast seemed to be the best built but in China. Havent heard. which to go for?

Installation in Ahmedabad usually goes for about 400-1000 at max. the best branded wiring I found was unfortunately Auzo. Dont know if it is good.
