IllusionICEing The Estilo

Hi Freinds,

I have been hunting for a decent ICE setup under my limited budget, and wanted to stick to it! After many months of drooling over the ICE section and articles, i have decided to get these for my Estilo @ Phase001:

1. Illusion Electra EL6.1 Compos for the Front
2. Kenwood 8401 4CH AMP
3. Bose Wiring Kit (suggest somethig much better in that price?)
4. Finolex Power cable

Done!
Planning to do it @ FMDrive tomorrow!

Hiya, congrats on your ICE Quest. Nice choice of equipment. Glad you are taking it slow. Do let us know the settings on the HU & Amp as tuned by Pankaj bhai.

Enjoy your ride. Cheers.

Is this Bose wiring kit the fake Boss wiring kit ?
Am just curious, as have seen the Name Bose on such kits in Bangalore.

Hi all,

thanks St.Anger and bluraven for the replies. (atleast gives me the idea that the thread is alive!)

Well,

After a long hunt, and research I had made my final choice and did the install today.
Pankaj bhai, bantu and Anand and team made a great installation once again. I was a happy man when I left Santacruz(W) with smiles, and gave Cadbury's to every one who worked on it!

Pictures to come by.

[blueraven, as I did not require a RCA patch cable, I did not buy the Bose cable Kit. All were done with individually procured material.]

Will explain which is which with pictures to follow in a few minutes...

So are you doing the HU-less setup of just amps + components?!

Do take pictures, I got so caught up with haggling with the guy that I didn't get very many good pictures!

Such a nice amp and speakers and Bose wiring? Strech a bit and get good wires and RCAs, it makes a huge difference.

Illusion-ICEing the Estilo - Picture Story!

Parked my Estilo @ FMDrive - one of the first Installers I had my eye on when I came first to Mumbai. They turned out to be one of the best Installers in Mumbai, and after being in TBhp I made my mind to do the install there at any cost!

I had made an appointment with Pankaj Bhai for today and hence almost everything was ready when I went sharp @ 10:00AM, he too entered the shop and did his Pooja.

The first thing to be done was to select the Cable Kit. I decided to go by choosing them under budget, and not jumpin to select the Cable-kits available @ 2900++

This cable is the Power Cable and Ground Cable used, Ground Zero was what was said, but the label said Sanzui, whatever it was, I was only particular about the Gauge(8 GA) and the flexibility. It was flexible as the Kit cables, and we started the work immediately.

Doors are coming out!

I was thrilled to see the Kenwood AMP in it's beautiful black box!

While there is no Head Unit, and the AMP needs to be switched ON and OFF we needed a remote Switch.

Switch in place:

The AMP to be placed under the front passenger seat. So here comes the seat off:

Amp tightened firmly onto the bottom holding plate of the seat.

HU case being drilled and the 3.5MM Stereo Jack to RCAs come inside it:

Speaker Wires, Ground Zero:

20 Image limit, continued in next post...

IllusionICEing the Estilo! part - II

AMP Switch, power cable:

When they forgot to crimp the adapters to the AMP[I insisted it be made with good crimps, then without a word, things came in place]:

Vehicle Specific AMP Harness:

Fuse getting ready:

Here Comes the Illusion Electra EL6.1 Series Components:
[I was waiting to see this package, which came into scene only in the afternoon!]

...continued

Part - 3

Seating the Component Speakers to the Door Panel:
We needed to keep a spacer ring to pack the speakers on the door panel, because the length of the speaker was a bit more, and needed to be accomodated. MDF Spacer rings were immediately arranged and drilled, and screwed to the doors.

Tweeter Mounting:
Removing Pillar beadings to place the tweeter wires:

Grounding:
[neat grinding and crimping to ground the AMP]

Final touches to crimp the wires and organize them:

Here comes the final touch:
[Connecting the MP3 player and staging the show!]
What a confidence, these guys showed in the proffessional work, not a single time did they check for the connections, or wiring. they did it in style, and connected the player and showed how it sounded in the basic tuning, then sat to tune it to suit the input levels and et al.!!

Just Amazing work! Full of enthusiasm, and no long face while doing the job! I loved each minute I spent with them!

Thanks to pankaj Bhai and his team!

ICE'ing: one step at a time.

Heyya,

Still awaiting the pictorial essay of your ICE quest phase 1. Will love a demo when possible. Could you post a breakup of the prices including the labor. Pankaj Bhai & team are a good gang. Reliable and warm, thats their charm.

And if ever you have doubts over your thread being dead or alive, just pm us a shout, we'll do our best and be right out.

Cheers
