There are but they are quite unpopular. And one would not see it regularly.

Get the Ground Zero DVC sub for around 5k. Else, you wont do justice to the amp.

as regards sub, opt for JBL GT-5 series/ Ground Zero. where is the official link for 3501 mono? how much are you getting it for?

The GTO 3501 is for around 13K(B&W) as posted by Sam in the new ice products for 2008 thread.

As for the JBL subs, spec-wise they seem under-powered(250-275 Watts) compared to pio W307D2/4 (400 Watts) . And the W307 is deliciously low priced (grey) in delhi. I frankly dont think that JBL's will be able to beat the pio in quantity of bass produced.

I'm having trouble getting Gto 3501 in grey so I'll have to settle for either :
1) Pioneeer GM-D7400M (400Watt @ 2ohm)
2) Pioneeer GM-5300T (380Watt @ 4 ohm Bridged)

Depending on the above I'll go for either :
1) pio W307D4 (wired in parallel for mono amp @ 2 ohm)
2) pio W307D2 (wired in series for bridged amp @ 4 ohm)

If any of the Gurus see any technical errors in the above setup then please correct me!!

I haven't heard anything good about the current Pioneer monos.

Why not look for a Kenwood 9103D mono. Its 500w @ 4ohms and is available in grey for under 12K as per my last information. You can check with Driven for availability.

I've used Pio mono and sub combo, I didn't find them good at all.
Why waste your money on Pio mono when you can afford better ones.

900W x 1 at 2ohms !!! Gunbir Sir.... you surely want to blow the tailgate off my hatch !!

The KAC-8101D (500Watt @ 1ohm) is more like it.

Please clarify my doubt as to why do I need to power a w307D2 rated at 400W with 900Watts of power , especially when amp price is a factor.

And please PM me the price of KAC-8101D if available at Driven...

That will do as well, though I suggest you get the 9103D and use it in 4ohms config. That way you will put an easier load on the car's electricals, have more damping factor and more power for future upgrades.

Besides you dont need to use all the power an amp delivers. 900W is only it's ability to deliver power. the amp will deliver only what you ask of it (till it's ability to do is reached).

okay agreed the clarity might not be that much of a jbl's sub, agreed lbmji, nitrous and panky12345.

but here is the catch the man wants cheap and budget install!

so here is what i want to suggest him. let him get the jbl mono be it gto301.1 or gto3501 as its the cheapest i could suggest for the kind of clarity and power it pumps out and since its the bigger investment here!

the sub can however be changed later on as it costs only 3000 and 1000 for the box! if he is unsatisfied with the sound, he can later on sell it off for a decent second hand price because of the brand popularity and price bracket! still retain the box and purchase another sub!

other wise let him get a jbl bass tube/ than a sealed box(costing more than7000) for like around 5000 bucks that settles the matter once and for all as they are the cheapest costing combos! after all he is going to be satisfied as he is upgrading from a sony sub and a two channel amp and not a better brand!

these are just my thoughts do correct me if i have made any mistakes as i have just started out here in the Ice!

EDIT: nitrous what is the model number of the ground zero forgot to ask this!

The specs for Kenwood KAC-8101D are pretty impressive :

4 Ohm [14.4V] 200W x 1 [20-200Hz, 0.5%THD]
2 Ohm [14.4V] 400W x 1 [100Hz, 0.5%THD]
1 Ohm [14.4V] 500W x 1 [100Hz, 1%THD]

And it looks the part too!!

Will somebody let me know the grey market price...??
