The X10D and X40 look better in my opinion. Wonder what they cost?

JVC and Kenwood prices are not well known.

I am not trying to 'correct' anything, but I think it is better to buy good speakers (or sub) and invest in (better) amplifier(s) later.

I just checked from Driven and they told me 9103D is now going for around 13k. I remember another TBHP member bought it a few months ago for 12k. At that price its worth every paisa.

any explanation for this? i suggested what i did because it was already late to pick up the jbl models of mono as the production stopped. and also, since its the bigger investment, people might having too many second thoughts!

Guys , instead of getting the entire upgrade done at once I've decided to go for it in a phased manner starting with the amp and wiring kit. I'll get the KAC-8103D in all probability , cos it seems to be a good blend of power and economy. (God ...it feels like I'm writing a review for the Baleno!! )

The 8103 has got 300W at 4 ohm so good enough for my current sony sub. Later , I'll get a good DVC (with enclosure) of about 500W and the 8103 will be good enough for it also at 2ohm (500 watts). Plus , it's 1 ohm stable..so I'll have even more options if I want.

All my plans now hinge on getting the 8103 at a good price...

Hi all.... looks like the 8103 is a rare gem. It's really hard to find in grey in delhi . If anyone has any leads then please update me.

If not then please suggest any other 400 Watt @ 2ohm monos available for around 10K(grey).

Ciao bros....just drove down to Driven today to take a peek at the enclosures available there. I was so impressed by the quality of products available that I ended up buying a sealed 12" MDF enclosure for my sub .cheers:

Orginally I intended to get a ported enclosure (of Venom make) that looked like it could kick a**. But it just didnt fit in the space available below the rear tray so had to settle for the smaller sealed one . But the improvement in sound was instant.

Also enquired around the market today and finally found the KAC-8103D for under 9K. But I didnt buy it cos I didnt have a good gut feeling about it.
AFAIK, there are no fake Kenwood monos around. Or are there ??
Gurus , please enlighten...

Kenwood brand doesnt seem to have to many fakes floating around.
However, if you find the dealer shady, better get 9103 from Driven then(in case they dont stock 8103). Atleast you'd be sure it's not fake. And it's never too bad to have a little more headroom for future.

How are these Panasonic Amps?
I recall reading in another thread that the CY-PA2003 costs 9K. Any idea how much the 1003 costs?

The panasonic site does not mention the RMS rating for CY-PAD1003 at 2 ohm even though it's a mono.
So in case you want to go for it then make sure it's 2ohm stable since at that impedance you will be able to extract the maximum juice out of it.

Spec-wise they seem good enough , rest the gurus will be in a better position to add....

why not go in the tries and tested way than experiment on new product. I think the Panky JBL mono is the best deal which you can get and that to in a very good price. Rest it is your money you are the best person how to spend it.

hey if you are willing to spend 9grand, why not add one more grand to it and get the jbl cs300.1 with bill and warranty, as the kenwood sounded fishy to you, the problem of getting a fake is completely eliminated this way or find yourself a reliable source!

LBM bhai , that the 301.1 is very good and I would have gladly taken it if it would have matched my requirements. But it is a full 100Watt short of what I require. And a mono is not what I would buy every week or every year also so I just want one which has enough reserve for future upgrades also , that's all.

BTW , I've got a friend who's getting back from us recently and I'm thinking that why not ask him to get me a mono from there. My budget is of around $200 and the two good monos that I know about in that range are Kenwood KAC-8104D (same spec as 8103D) and Alpine MRP-M500. Both have near identical specs.

So is importing one of them a good idea ???
