Normal convection cooling (by free air flow) is enough till about 35DegC ambient (temperature inside the box may reach 45DegC). Some amps, by design, use forced cooling by fans. Better to ensure that the air flow over heat sink is not obstructed.

AFAIK most IC-based amps have over-load and over-temperature protection built-in.

They don't get heat up until they are played to there max or the state when they start clipping. Then they get heat up very fast. The AB class gets more heated when compared to Class D. Also same amp if driven at for say 2 ohms will get more heated when compared to 4 ohms due to excessive load.

Amp driving speakers get less heated when compared to amp driving the subs. Because bass note need more power to reproduce them.

Most subs and amps get installed in the boot. What could be the typical temperature in the boot of a car, parked out in the sun, during peak Delhi summer?

I think it will cooler when compared to the cabin as no light can pass through in the boot.

i keep putting on the AC and blowing out cool air through the vents below the dash near the legroom so that the amps which are under the drivers and co drivers seat get some cool air.

I would say it will last like all the good subs in the market.

Watches are electronic-mechanical these days and woofers are mechanical in a way right?

Man, if only we had woofers like Seiko Automatics... just give signal and they boom!

I think the replacement model is 30T with an MRP of Rs 7,490.

Alternatively, listen to Bull Audio sub in a sealed box. I have only heard good things about that sub.

That is not a replacement model.
It is just a higher model than the MKII

As far as i know , the replacement of the MKII is going to come soon.

@ajaybiz, some of these are definitely a no-no (Dub, etc.). You could visit Sprocket in Koramangala and check out some well-known and not-so-well-known models that they always stock for better margins. Usually they have 12", but if you ask them nicely they might get you 10". Will give you and idea of the prevailing prices.
