Excellent install. That blue shirted guy surely knows his wiring.

* Pic 5, Phase I: Couldn't figure out of what is the photo!
* Pic 4, Phase II: Navin had mentioned a while back the problem of "smearing" when the tweeters are firing into the windshield

The sound with the tweeter in the stock location was very poor. Especially since the Illusions have a low Fs tweeter and low X over frequency, the vocals were pathetic. Everything has cleared up with the tweeters in the current location. Still tinkering with the toe-ins to get the best image/ soundstage.

Balu & know wiring !!
You must be kidding......
He does not know **** !!! [sorry for the language]
He is just slow and is ready to listen [that is so very important]
That is good - trust me.
So we have to stand and instruct.
Besides after the install is done, we have to take a Battery & check all
all driver polarity etc.

Pic 5 - Phase I is the damping [silver] visible from behind the seat belt holder - rear seat.

Pic 4 Phase II is the rear speaker - I do not care for it.
For me it does not exist !!

Sir, the tone and quality of the 2 amps is so so different it is like 'chalk and cheese'.
I have so much gear like this lying around, I could open up a 'small shop' & become a dealer !! Trust me.........

It is what sounds 'better' !

Hello Sir !
Been a while;

It is not about on-axis or off-axis;
It is a simple question of what sounds 'better'

When a person is spening a few lacs + on a car, believe me, he want to get the 'best' out of what he is installing !

Now, I tried the Tweeter in the stock position, it did not sound 'correct'
Putting it next to the mid - bass too did not 'float my boat' [I need the sound stage to be playing from out side my wind shield]
Hence, this seemed to be the best 'compromise' !

The exact position & angle is yet to be done right.
The work on the car shall commence on Saturday @ 1100 Hours.
Balu is busy with a 'Skoda Superb' install for the next 3 days !!!
So, I shall have to wait.
There are issues with the right door damping that needs to be addressed & the complete 'polarity' check is still o/s.

Will keep you guys informed !

Dealer then calls 2 "boys" and they proceed to butcher the OEM system.

You got 8" components in the front? or in the rear? or both?

I prefer a free standing tweeter [no defraction loss] !!!
I keep the level much lower on the rear as compared to the front;
There are 2 types of difractions that occur.
1. baffle step (diffracion loss)
Baffle Diffraction Step
2. baffle edge (diffraction ripple)
Diffraction from baffle edges
on an IB like a car door neither happens. there is no baffle step or edge.
I am confused as to which difraction you are refering to.

Lastly is your rear speaker mounted on the rear deck or in a special box that is ontop of the box that houses the subwoofers? If so how much room is left in the skoda's trunk. My requirements need me to be able to have 2 30" check in bags and one carry on bag (along with my SLR camera bag, my wife's and son's carry on haversacks, duty free shopping, etc..) in the trunk. I intend to steal all the ideas I can from your install.

God-Ji the drivers and equipments you have choosed are very nice and impressive, but i have 1question.
I really liked your setup,i am sure its a killer system..butttt,
Why didn't you went in for a show kind of a setup using a theme and detailing output for the Amps & subs,I personally feel such equipments need to be a good Show-off also.(no offence-ment just a thought seeing the installation pics)

Sir,

An ICE is for enjoyment - to listen & not to see.
An installation should be functional & cost effective.

Sure, I could have gone and done what you suggest, but that 'does not float my boat' !!!
I am a simple fellow that just likes good sound. I am not into 'audio installation show off' !!!

This is a simple & clean set up !!

P.S. The only problem I see, if any is in the 'bass'
It is great for a Hip Hop - House music person.
Not the kind that I like. Well actually after I heard that I-10's bass, I was sold. Cheaper drivers and what a result !!cheers:

Respected Sir !!

You will need a Tata 407 [turbo]
No car can have ICE & all that you want.
If you get ICE in, it will surely be 'compromised' !!! MHO - sorry !!

The only other option is to place the JM Labs BE woofers [small ones] in multiple enclosures to re-enforce the bass !!!!
You sure need that boot space of yours !!

I'd have to use stock locations for front and rear that limits me to 6" comps and 5" comps. Now for sub i'd have to go Isobarik like your I-10. but will the I-10 sub be adequate for the Octy?

Sir,

If you are serious, we can work on options.
We could make 15" woofers in an isobarik sealed clamp shell.
The problem if any, will be the amplifier to frive it. We will have to go for very very powerful amplifiers. I like the Audison for that.

Yes, this will be a smapp enclosure & we can make it removable too. So airport duty & the enclosure can be removed - through speak on connectors !!

Not removable. That option is out. Maybe 12" will use a smaller box.

Why not removable ?

Why not Removable ?

The box volume is not dependent on me; It is specified by the woofers TSP. We have to follow what ever the manufacturer recommends & the woofer should use neo magnets, else it will eat into volume. So the woofer shoice is critical !!!
One we decide on the woofer, then we naad a powerful & clean amplifier to drive the sub hard !!!!
Does your HU have TA ?
