I never said you said that. I was just indicating that doubling the power, i.e. 3dB gain, into a speaker does not result in double the perceived loudness. Thats why I included that line. Since you arrived at the conclusion that "since he can perceive it 2.5 times louder, it must be 4dB more". That is not true.

How can someone mean, "I think this driver's efficiency in midbass is 4 dB more than the other one", when someone actually says "the midbass is almost 2.5 times of the other one"? Perceived difference, as heard.

If by 'mid' you mean midbass - nope.

quite true. From what I've read, 10dB translates to a percieved 2X improvement

the question here is whether abhibh actually percieved the difference or got it off some spec sheet. Especially since he confidently said that it was 2.5x , i assumed it was the latter. I may be able to say that something is twice as loud, but my ears arent as good to determine if it is 2.5x loud, not 2x and hence the assumption

I guess that's left for abhibh to clarify

Demo of Illusion Audio speakers

Hi all

Met up with B&T on saturday, demoed the Illusion 6.5" co-axials and the Illusion Electra components in my car. The co-axials were an improvement on my existing speakers, however the components were what i liked the best. The issue now is that the output of the HU is not enough to drive the compo's, and so will need to add an amplifier to realise their full potential.

This paragraph is a bit off topic, but I need to mention my experience with Hermit Audio. For B&T it really is all about the music! A lot of time and effort was spent in fitting 2 sets of speakers in the stock locations in my car for the demo. While the work was being done I was given free access to his demo room (He also deals in high end Home audio), and listened to music to my hearts content. B&T then spent time listening to the speakers in my car, and gave a frank and unbiased opinion of what would work and what wouldnt. He even refused to accept any payment for the work done. Very helpful, and a real gentleman. Thanks for taking the trouble B&T.

In the meantime, I will also check out Bull Audio components, and start looking for a suitable (Low cost & good SQ) amp.

Cheers!

PS: Had a peep at WIP on a Pune registered swift, a killer install with 3-way's fitted in the doors. Would be great to get a demo when it is finished!

Hi Nishant

not sure who's swift that was.

Bull Audio equipment is available at FM drive in Santacruz, Im going there for a demo tomorrow, your friend and you are welcome to come along.

Shrivz has mentioned the name of the brand the hermit deals in. The demo room at Hermit Audio is about 3 times the size of the demo room at BOOM, and is acoustically treated. They cant be compared.

That Swift belonged to team-bhp member Amey. You can see a thread on the Swift here - http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/sound-...-swift-16.html
