no hard feelings there!
anyways back to my query!
can anyone in mumbai tell me where i can get a kenwood 8401? its available for 5k in delhi at driven. any pointers? i dont mind if driven ships it here for me too. or if anyone can do this huge favour for me and buy it and ship for me(after payment from me to his bank a/c of course)

rather than doing all that, just tell me one thing:
how do the blau gta4, jbl 604 and kenwood 8401 differ from each other in sq?
if not too much of a difference, then i might as well get a blau!
please advice me on the basis that i will NOT be running a sub off the amp. will only use for components and coaxials

yea. that is already mentioned as one of the options. but considering the price range for all 3 options is the same, which is best suited for me!

I think you will easily get the blau 4 ch amp in mumbai for 6-6.5k. It should be good.

Regarding your query about playback of lossless files, i think 7950UB supports wav files. Wav files are lossless.
If you have flacs, you can convert them to wavs and play it in the HU. There wont be any quality loss since you are converting from lossless to lossless.

**wav? ok. what about playing flacs from the usb stick? can i convert to a format that the 7950 plays??? without losing quality or compressing?

**ok, one very noobish question: the ground zero mk2 subwoofer(titanium series) is rated at a very high 400W RMS. does that mean that i can provide full power from the Rockford Fosgate Amp that i will be getting(325Wx1 RMS).. so technically will it be feasible to max the sub while maxing the amp? will the sub be damaged throwing 325W RMS at it?

Yes, as i said in previous post, your HU supports wav files, which is a lossless format. So you can convert the flacs to wavs (using may be foobar2000) and play them. There wont be any quality loss in this conversion since both are lossless formats.

It shouldnt have any problems as long as you dont exceed the rated power, i.e. 400 WRMS. Actually, IIRC. the gurus here said that its actually safer to over power speakers than underpowering them.

OK HERES AN UPDATE.
i bought a brand kenwood 8401 today. lucky to get one from a friend who has about 8-10 of them still remaining. since these are in demand they are selling for a premium but i got mine at the market price.

there are very few remaining in stock and since this is a very popular amp on tbhp, just pick them up!!

A friend of mine was using SoundStream 350.1 on GZ Mk2 as soon as i put up a little volume the subwoofer inside the box started doing krrr....krr....krrr..... later on i came to know it was mis-matching the Amp's requirments.

Since you have a Rockford 325.1,i am sure the amp will be stable by throwing full output but i highy doubt the subwoofer can be constantly stable at higher volumes

Ramie

EDIT:congrats on the 8401 purchase it has good SQ full VFM,now i would suggest you connect the subwoofer to 3-4 channel in bridge mode and run it will make alot of difference in the sound

Thanks Ramie.. Will keep in mind. very excited now. All purchases have been made now.. Just waiting for the Rockford fosgate amp to come from obamaland. By the way, the Kenwood 8401 has a very solid feel to it, and looks a very very good deal at this price.
