Looks like its been replaced by the 8403.. But they are very good for the price bracket. and they are imports so they come in small quantities.. Ask me, I was looking for one for a while

The rate at which you got is quite impressive,i would suggest you connect the amp in your car and start using it,then when your mono amp comes install that and make everything seperate(Front+Rear+Subwoofer) you will feel a major difference in SQ
Yess 8401 is solid built and complete VFM,your search is over matey.

now i am confused should i get this amp and leave 2 channels spare? (already have a 2 channel powering the BT)
rear fill would run off the HU and this amp would be used to run front components.

Amplify the rear fills.
Provide less power to them that's it.. Don't waste the 2 channels. And also make sure you get it soon. they remain out of stock most of the time

Bingo !!!!

Congrats Doc.I am happy you like the amp.

I got my 8401 in October 2007 for 6.2k ; I had no knowledge of amps then and had to select from among a Sony604,a Pio6100(or was it 6300) and some Dynamo(marketed by Philips).The604 was being offered at 4.3k,but I took the Kenny8401 as it looked "professionally" built.very happy with it.

So once the Rockford Fosgate arrives , you will have a real boom box on wheels.Maybe you can perform some extractions just by playing music !!!!!

lol! i can pioneer a new concept. the bass from the 'boombox on wheels' will loosen the teeth from the sockets of the patients. i just have to pluck them out..
on a more serious note, the build quality of the amp is something i really appreciate. even the gold terminals and the connection screws make the amplifier look like it means serious business. atleast in this budget range, this amp really feels solid. its heavy too.
thanx vigsom
do you think i should install this amp for the time being and install the RF amp when it comes, or should i wait another 15 days and THEN get the fitting done?

I think you should get both amps installed together ; saves you a lot of time and also they can be tuned to work in perfect harmony to produce a symphony

update: frankmehta gets the godfather of all amps!

yea, i got the legend yesterday. the big daddy of all amplifiers (in its budget, of course)... drumrolllllll......... the jbl 75.4!

i never thought that the illusions can resolve so much better now(yes, even better than before, which is GOOD) and sub is hitting haard! its a temporary arrangement for the timebeing, where the rears are off for the time being. the Rockford Fosgate amp is coming in a week. the sub will be transferred to that and the compos and rear fills will be powered by the (almighty) 75.4.
very happy with this combination and now my system seems set. no more ICE upgrades are planned now (on this car now) and I thank all you people on tbhp for all the advice. you see, the car and everything that's good on it is because of team bhp! thanks to all. and yes, NOW my car is worth an audition. my SQ dream is kinda fulfilled and i only wish that someone from this forum gifts me an alpine 9887 or eclipse headunit for being a good boy all round the year. its ok, i can wait till christmas!! lol!

havent used either of the 2 for longer. but id say the jbl is 80-20 against the kenwood. the illusions sound much better of the jbl. with the kenwood the illusions feel very laid back. and with the jbl they sound like music has come alive. how many of you have noticed differences???
