Do you mean the battery won't be able to handle 2 amps or are there going to be other problems? I am concerned because I am planning to fit a 2nd amp in my 6-year old Santro, albeit the battery is new.

lamington road is one of the cheapest markets i know.
most dont rip you off and give you genuine stuff.

yes most off them are fools who dont know what they are talking about.
so is obvious that you shouldnt entertain their advice and take things they say with a dash of salt

but if you KNOW you audio and know what you want. lamington road is the cheapest and safest option INMO

as for your amp , im happy you are considering a two channel for your sub. its the right way to go considering your budget.
kole crunch boss are all crap brands - more or less the sony output.

dont worry about straining your battery.
your sony is hardly power hungry and if you go for a 2 channel 75*2 you should be absolutely fine

the US is a good place for audio only because of the variety nothing else
whats your final budget for a 2 channel?

I said strain on electricals because of this:

What I believe is that Maruti alternators can deliver 60amps.The regulator in the alternator controls the supply of current as per requirement.
  1. Headlights - 2*90w=>180w=>180/14=13 amps approx
  2. Tail lights Esteem=>6w*2=12w=>01 amp approx
  3. Fog lights(if fixed)2*60w=>120w=>120/14=8.5 amps
  4. 8401 amp 39Amps(rated at 4 ohms load - as per manual)
  5. A/C blower ,Dash lights etc 5Amps
  6. HU 7 amps approx.
With a single amp,that makes it 73.5Amps at 14V supply voltage from the alternator.So another amp would mean reserve power from the battery would also be drawn-hence I raised that concern.Yes,if the alternator can put out more amps than what I have said,then "barabar che" !!!!!

Caution: If you get a 2channel/mono , you will be driving two amps and your electricals will be under strain;especially since the car is 7+.So please consider that as well.

which 2 channel amp will give me 250W of bridged power! if someone points that out to me i'll be really happy?

@magma

which shop at lammy? any idea? some reliable fella. suraj motors at opera house has shut down i think. not opened since dussehra.
the reason why i think a 2 channel makes sense is because i just want to supply the sufficient power to the sub.. the rest will fall into place, as the gz coaxials will be louder and hence the soundstage will be balanced at the front and the rear, and the sub will get more power from a dedicated 2 channel. question is: where will i get a 2 channel supplying more than 200W. budget is flexible. but not going overboard. i wish i had a 75.2! would suffice for me at the moment..
any suggestions???

What's in the box?

Download owner's manual
  • Two channel amplifier
  • One 7/64" Allen wrench
  • Four 3/4" Self-tapping screws
  • Remote Punch Bass controller
  • Remote mounting bracket
  • Two 3/8" Self-tapping screws
  • 16.25' Flat remote cable (with RJ-45 plugs on both ends)
  • Installation & Operation manual (English/ French/ Spanish/ German/ Italian)
  • Punch Amplifier Performance Verification Certificate
HIGHLIGHTED, ITALICIZED AND UNDERLINED things make it a really value for money purchase. there's nothing better to inflate the EGO than a certificate stating the actual power of the amplifier. and mind you the actual power of the amp is MORE than the rated power in RF amplifiers. boy AM i excited!

order has been placed! landing in india in less than a month from today.

tomorrow theres someone coming to see my sony 4 channel amp and old pio sub(posted them up for sale). if they are sold im getting a new 4 channel amp tomorrow itself but it will be a CLEAN, SWEET sounding amp cos i shall use it to only power the Illusion EL 6.1s and the GZ 6*9 Coaxials.
My choices for the 2 are:
1.Blaupunkt GT4 Special
2.JBL 604
3.anything else in the same price bracket.

suggestions for that should begin now.. lol! im really on a roll!!

Fortunately amps dont draw fulll power all the time. music demand is dynamic and often amps are putting out about 10% of their rated power. I'd be more wary of the old power cables, loose connections and such.

If Watt per $ is a concern this is a good option. but use this amp for a sub only.

yes. the RF amp is going to be used solely for the sub only. i think the sub is going to get all the power it needs now!

UPDATE:
sold my sony amp and the pio sub for a good amount. now waiting for some suggestions for a 4 channel. i have a 3 month old blau in mind. its in the classifieds. will talk to him today. if he gives me a good deal then going ahead with it. the amp in question is a blau mk4 special. decent for the compos and the co axials. whatsay?

this install will be done by b&t and team in the coming weeks, when my wannabe mono(RF) amp comes in from usa. keep watching this space for details!

here are the pics of the rockford fosgate amp. check out the connections at the back. there is even more tweaking that can be done after removing the detachable front panel of the amp, which isnt visible here..

Head Unit will not draw 7 amps when external power amps are being used.

Power Amplifiers, as navin mentioned, will not be drawing peak current all the time.

Any temporary shortfall in current due to alternator's lower capacity will be supplemented by the battery, and this can later be regained by the battery when current draw falls.
