Today it was the second of the 9887 evaluation the time alignment is real tricky to tune for the sound image on the centre of the dash. Though Alpine played poorly recorded tracks with clarity which the 8650 was not good at.

Why such a small budget for the sub? Considering the quality of components and HU that you have sourced, you should be looking to spend about 15K or more on the sub. How about a Hertz/JL Audio/ID sub?

You can go for an iD sub for 14k and GZ 12XD-AL for 15-17k. Both seems to be good sub.

DAY 3 AFTER INSTALL:

Being playing around the 9887 is a lil tricky, firstly almost all the functions are to be controlled from the HU itself ( the Remote is alomst useless, its only useful feature is to quickly escape the menus of 9887, else its a cheap plastic piece of crap) you cannot access the song list from the remote, u cannot use the eq's. The setting have no graphic UI, which makes it difficult to check the eq u are on and what they look like. As of now 9887 is not producing any exceptional kinda sound that a HU 0f 20K shud have. I will try an tune it tomorrow on sunday again lets see where i land up... i am considering P80 as an option.

Nope! That's a JBL GTO 755.6. A longer version of the 75.4 with 2 additional output channels.

Are those Alpine Components really worth their price?? They seem really expensive.

The Judgement Day

Today i finally got fed up with the 9887 and decided to leave for delhi @ 1130 am. Got straight away to Driven and next what .. had a major alteration on the SWIFT ICE.
Bought a new HU PIO8850 and dumped the 9887, the rear doors got new comps ID CTX650 and man the 8850 started rockin. After listening to the 9887 for a week now the pio performance was significantly better than the 9887, the sound was heavier, softer and the most important thing was unlike the 9887 you can actually listen to the pio for a long time and does not saturate your ears even when played for more than an hour continuously where as the 9887 saturates the ears very quickly.

This is the new setup that the SWIFT houses:
PIONEER 8850
ALPINE R-TYPE 17S 110W COMPONENTS : FRONT
IMAGE DYNAMICS CTX650 100W COMPONENTS : REAR DOOR
JBL 755.6 GT AMPLIFIER
BULL AUDIO WIRING
DYNAMAT EXTREME ALL 4 DOORS
JBL GT4-12 SUB

I am happy now it sounds awesome.

I wonder why people compare the 9887 with the P80 ? the 8850 itself gives the 9887 a run for its money.

A happy PIONEER 8850 owner
