Lets not discuss Nokia phones here :P

@ Sam.
Any Chances of the Harman Kardon CA280 being available here?

I can understand what you are trying to say, but my point is if a product has been imported through the proper channel by way of paying import duties, etc, how is it possible for someone to sell the same at such a ridiculously low price ? I had always assumed that grey products were imported rather smuggled into the country without paying the import duties, hence the low prices.

Often, not always.

I am not going to discuss commercial issues here, but due to multiple reasons it is possible for a grey dealer to sell some items at lower prices than official. Also the grey dealer is happy to make a few hundred rupees per sale as opposed to a legitimate dealer.

Coincidentally these products always tend to have a higher failure rate, often are older stock, sometimes look like they've been resold or refurbished, sometimes have damaged or missing packaging and more. It's a compromise-for-price situation.

Ahh I overlooked the operative word. Sorry nitrous, please return my PM back or ignore it.
No Guys, Nitrous has nothing to do with this deal. He just provided me the address of the shop. And I am very happy with my purchase and thankful to Nitrous for the reference.

I tested the Amp and its working fantastic and has no evidence that its a used piece. I am going to that shop now to purchase the another 1004 Amp for my friend. But I will convince my friend to buy it under warranty as I suspect my Amp is a old stocked piece (may fail at any time).

I agree with you Sam and I believe mine is a very very old stock.

Alright guys, I'm happy to announce the entry of the first JBL in my life (hopefully more to come)! Chirag_bir has very kindly agreed to sell me his 1004, and if all goes well I'll have it installed on this coming Sunday under the benign supervision of none other than LBM!

Chirag, thanks buddy and good luck for your mono (discussed in a separate thread) and hope to audition your setup in two-weeks time!

IBM_J@ That's proves it you are young man. End of speculation. I finally found out.

REG JBL 1004@
Guys I'd like to know How will JBL 1004 perform incase all 4 channels of the amp are used under bridgemode for 2 subs? How is bass quailty ? 1&2 doesn't have the bass boost compared to the 3&4 channel. Does bass boost make a lot of difference?
How will the bass quality be in a JBL 1004 compare to the JBL mono amps?

I never recommend using the bass boost.

How does the HU manufacturer know exactly how much boost your speakers need or more importantly can handle?

Bass Boost is often an arbitrary 10db boost at 50 or 100Hz. 10db boost at 50Hz can damage most 6" woofers (given adequate amplifier power) and 10db boost at 100Hz gives you a one note thump which makes all music sound the same.

Sam is the JBL 1004 a 2/3/4 channel amplifier or a 3/4 channel.
As in can Ch1 &2 and Ch 3&4 be bridged into 2 channel altogether ?

It is a 2/3/4 - meaning it is a 2, 3 or 4 channel amplifier.

Yes of course. You can bridge 1&2 and 3&4 to make a powerful 2 channel amplifier.

Nice Nice.
Its perfect for many subs in that case.
Excellent product. 300w from both channels = 600w. Its nothing less than a mono in that case

Also are JBL GTi subs available in India? Please say yes.
